He's given up six homers in 30 innings -- I wouldn't call it a strong start outside of his ERA. He's been fortunate that most of those homers have been without guys on base, especially considering how often he issues walks. I don't think he'll sustain this ERA, and I don't think he'd net a big return.
Uptick in strikeouts is nice though! (Although even that has come at the expense of most of his grounders)

I'm just saying what Sale's camp would probably want in a deal. They'd almost certainly push for a new record deal.

How long should Royals fans expect this team to be bad?  Bad farm system, trade pieces that won't bring back much ... are we looking at another 30 year project?

It's not going to be short. I don't think they'll be good for at least three years -- maybe longer.

I'm not expecting much of anything after a pair of TOS surgeries, which is too bad. I think Hughes endeared himself to a lot of people when he turned down the opportunity to make a relief appearance that would've earned him a $1MM bonus back in 2014. (He fell shy of the final incentive threshold in his deal by a third of an inning and said he didn't feel as though he'd earned it since he didn't get to 210 frames as a starter)
