Do you think Peter Alonso hit another 50 plus home in 2021 or does he come back to 20-30
Steve Adams
3:31
I don't think 50 is going to be the norm for him. Everyone benefited from the juiced ball in 2019, and Alonso played in 161 games while tallying 693 plate appearances -- that's tough to do on a yearly basis.

Still think he's a 40-dinger guy though.

Which proposal do you think was more ridiculous, owners or players?
Steve Adams
3:33
Both?

Each side is just playing hardball and proposing things that will be rejected out of hand. It's freaking nonsense because the two sides can't just have an actual negotiation. And the constant leaks on small details (which seem to be coming more from ownership than the PA) are tired and transparent.

Has sabermetrics proven to be the Pandora's Box of baseball? Seems like interest in the sport really waned once the "nerds" took over and stopped letting plays happen on instinct.
Steve Adams
3:35
Analytics are increasing in every sport. Baseball is a slower game with lots of downtime and a league that doesn't seem nearly as adept at marketing itself as other sports like football and basketball.

What do you expect out of Alex Reyes for the rest of his career?
Steve Adams

RIP Jerry Stiller!

It's hard to project too much from a guy who still hasn't even thrown 120 innings in a season and has had multiple arm surgeries before he's ever worked a full big league year. I'm hopeful he can eventually be a high-end reliever, but I have a hard time believing that arm is settling in as a regular source of 30+ starts per year.

Do you think the 2020 Allstar game in LA will be postponed to 2021?
Steve Adams
3:41
I believe they already announced Atlanta for 2021, so maybe they'll push to 2022. I guess they could still host something in 2020 because they want the TV revenue from airing the ASG and the Derby. But it's tough to look at the Dodgers and say "OK, well, you had your ASG" -- especially since it's been what? 40 years since the Dodgers hosted?

How bad does this whole situation hurt Lindor’s trade value in your opinion
Steve Adams
3:44
Less control over him obviously hurts, and some teams probably won't want to foot the bill for his sizable salary. But I think generally speaking, he'd still command a hefty return -- better than Betts, for instance. (Cheaper player, not being shipped off with $48MM of pitcher salary)

I'm hearing lots (ok, some) talk Baltimore will select Asa Lacy #2 on June 10.  Given their huge lack of high ceiling position players, combined with 2 potential stud pitchers already (DL Hall & Grayson Rodriguez) shouldn't they jump on Austin Martin (assume Tork goes #1)?
Steve Adams
3:45
They should just take whichever of Lacy or Martin they feel is better and call it a day. MLB teams never draft for need, and the Orioles in particular aren't in a position to do so.

Do you think if there is no mlb season that players will partake in other leagues for conditioning purposes. For example in the Japanese league or Korean league?
Steve Adams
3:46
No. The players are still under contract with their MLB clubs. And the ones who are free agents still might not have a path to do so. Both the KBO (three) and NPB (four) have limits on how many foreign players can be rostered by a team.
Most of those spots are already filled.
I'm still holding out hope that Puig signs over there, though. The Heroes waived Taylor Motter!
Hmmm...
3:46
Name three teams that will chase after Mike Minor in free agency.
Steve Adams
3:48
Rangers, Yankees, Phillies, Twins, Astros, White Sox, Mets, Nationals, Reds -- more than 3 but you get the point.
A lot of teams.

FWIW, I was told by ticketing that regardless of the 2020 Allstar game happening or not, the 2021 game will remain in Atlanta.  They said the 2022 site hasn't been named and they would just push LA to 2022.
Steve Adams
3:49
That makes sense. Can't strip Atlanta of the game when they've already been planning around it for so long.
Mariner fan
3:50
Do the mariners have a chance at the playoffs with a shortened season?
Steve Adams
3:50
I think they could be better than most people expect depending on the performances of guys like Sheffield, Dunn, White, Crawford, Lewis ...  but they'd need to hit on basically every prospect having an immediate impact to have a chance, and that's not particularly plausible.

3:51
Does Robbie Ray get a long term deal (4 years plus), or do you view him in the 2-3 yr contract category?
Steve Adams
3:52
I'd have said 4-5 years under normal circumstances but it's so hard to know for sure how the market will play out with all these revenue losses. I'll still say 4, but I'm muuuuuch less confident than I'd have been had you asked in January.
Cards fan
3:53
Are the released players going to be public knowledge?
Steve Adams
3:54
At some point every team's released players will be public knowledge, yeah. At the very least they'll end up on transactions logs. Most are players that even avid fans of their organization won't recognize.
Draft dude
3:54
Hey Steve, which draft would you rather have 4 picks out of the first 100 in 2020 or 2021?
Steve Adams
3:55
This is a deep class, and present day value is more important to me, regardless of whether you're in a rebuild or win-now

Can afford it
3:55
Worse injustice: players being underpaid and service time manipulated or fans being charged $30 for a hot dog and a cheap beer
Steve Adams

If you're paying $30 for a hot dog and beer, then the concession worker is swindling you!
