Wondering how the trade deadline Could be affected given the decreased salary commitments to players.  Could a team like the giants flip someone like cue to or samardjzia easier given that they’ll be less money owed.  Seems like a unique window for teams ready add to their rosters for a postseason run

They'll be owed less money, sure, but the teams they're trying to sell Cueto and Shark to will also be stomaching sizable losses and may be averse to adding even reduced salary to the books. If anything, I think it'd make controllable and affordable guys all the more desirable. The Mariners won't do it since they love him, but a guy like Marco Gonzales becomes someone that is suddenly much more appealing than he'd have normally been. Same with many of the Marlins' pre-arb starters.

If the season re-starts it looks like 30-man rosters and 20-man taxi squad... Would a GM load up the taxi squad with more pitchers?

I'd imagine there'll be a cap on the division of pitchers/position players on the taxi squad, and most teams will carry as many as they're allowed to.

what is happening with Andrew Benintendi? He is a good young player, but when I hear about good young red sox who are going to get paid I hear the names bogaerts and devers. (I know bogaerts has already signed.) I like benny, but it seems like the red sox have forgotten about him?

He just didn't have a great 2019. Power slipped a bit, K% jumped a lot, BB% dipped a bit, defense and baserunning weren't as strong as his big '18 season

Is there any public information out there yet about the minor league cuts the Yankees are making (i.e. the number of them) aside from the fact that they will apparently still pay the rest of their minor leaguers in full and the cuts seem to be from the lower levels?

Many contracts have bonus for incentives  that may be impossible to reach ie 200 innings or 450 at bats how does this work

Players will say "just prorate it" and I imagine owners will reject that notion, just as they're doing prorated salaries.

Even with his strong resume on a per game basis, James Paxton's durability issues and age will be a real issue as he hits free agency. What is the likelihood that he is not going to be able to find something more than a 1-2 year short term contract?

A healthy Paxton (well, healthy after returning from his back surgery) was looking at 3-4 years, I think. He'll be 32 in 2021, so I never liked him for 5.

I don't think it's outrageous to suggest he settles for two years with all the economic uncertainty surrounding the game -- but again, it's really difficult to forecast how this year's market will play out. It's unprecedented in the current economic climate.
