Who is your bet to be the Giants closer come August 1?
Steve Adams
4:36
Reyes Moronta
Home Run Jesus

Who is the winning bidder for Alex Colome? How many top 15 prospects does he bring back?
Steve Adams
4:40
I don't think it's a given that the White Sox even move him. They're trying to take some strides forward and energize the fanbase.

Colome also just isn't as good as Sox fans portray him -- sorry to say. His strikeout rate is significantly below average and he's rocking one of the most hilariously low BABIPs I can recall seeing this deep into a season (.124).

Between that, a 2019 salary north of $7MM already and a likely $10MM+ mark in 2020 because the saves will inflate his arb price, he wouldn't bring back near the return South Side fans would hope.

I think he means organizational top 15 prospects...I hope that is
Steve Adams
4:41
That was my interpretation, yes

4:42
Does the commissioner just think everyone is stupid
Steve Adams
4:44
Yeah, it's uh... gutsy? ... to claim  "Nope we didn't do anything and had no idea that those sneaky scamps over at Rawlings changed the composition of the ball"

There's both anecdotal and empirical evidence suggesting the ball is substantially different and directly leading to a historic rate of home runs. I have a hard time believing the league is just as shocked as the rest of us.

I personally think the Braves get madbum. What’s your take?
Steve Adams
4:46
They've basically yet to win any kind of notable prospect bidding was under Anthopoulos, who seems very measured when it comes to dealing from his farm now (especially relative to how he operated in Toronto).

The Braves are a possibility, sure, but I don't get why so many reporters play up geographical ties when looking at trade possibilities. Why should it matter that Georgia is close to home for Bumgarner or that Stroman is from Long Island?

I have been doing this a long time and don't think anyone has ever submitted pet pictures in the chat... first time for everything! Hey Smoky.

4:47
Stroman for Clint Frazier  and Domingo Germain?
Steve Adams
4:47
Don't see why Yankees would put Domingo in that deal at this poitn.
Pre-season, maybe. Now? When he's thrown this well?
vladito
4:48
why will no one say anything negative about Vlad Jr? Are people getting paid? Just say he didn't deserve to be in the HR derby. Yes he performed great, but at the end of the day he didn't deserve the invite.
Steve Adams
4:49
On what grounds? They didn't put him in the ASG or anything
Look at what Vlad did -- give me that over virtually anyone in the game. That was fun as hell to watch.
4:50
I want a bunch of guys doing that over more "deserving" participants like Bregman hitting 380-foot chip shots that squeak over the wall.

No disrespect to Bregman intended -- he's an elite player -- but his brand of power isn't all that captivating in that type of setting.

4:51
Adell tearing AA up, maybe a chance the Angels trade Calhoun and bring Adell up?
Steve Adams
4:51
I can see something like that happening, yeah. I doubt the Halos pay Kole $14MM next season, so his time there could be running out anyway.
vladito
4:52
8 career HR grounds
Steve Adams
4:52
And 80-grade power that he put on display
The whole "earning it" thing is a farce.
4:53
Vlad put on the best show we'll see at a derby in years and people want to whine about dues being paid or something -- there's no pleasing some people.
Rick Hahn
4:53
What free agents am I trying to sign in the off-season? (not including resigning my own)
Steve Adams
4:55
(Hahn = White Sox GM)

Chicago was on the top-top talent last year and is closer to contending now. I imagine they'll be going after elite talent again -- Cole, Rendon -- but that's much different from actually signing one.
I should've known I'd get like 30 dog/cat pics by publishing that one -- ha
I've opened the floodgates

Who will be traded? Leake Gordon and maybe Elias?
Steve Adams
4:59
I just don't see who looks at Gordon and decides they need him with how poorly he's played. Leake is a definite possibility -- I'd bet he goes -- and I think they can get something for Elias as well. Maybe Cory Gearrin... Domingo Santana is an interesting option.
Dayton Moore
4:59
I'm a little lost right now and I need help. Who is my most realistic trade chip that would bring me "pushing" talent (talent that would help push my talent to elevate their game)? Who should I keep to help facilitate my rebuild?
Steve Adams
5:01
I don't fully understand the question, but Moore and the Royals should be willing to listen on just about anyone. I wouldn't move Mondesi, I guess, but beyond that, I'd say open season.

That Merrifield contract is so club-friendly -- I'd be shopping him to any team with infield or outfield needs.

Hello Steve! Plz tell me exactly what it will take for the Dodgers to land Felipe Vazquez...Thx
Steve Adams
5:01
The Pirates GM all but said he wouldn't trade him. Publicly. On record.
5:02
I don't think Vazquez is a realistic trade candidate.
CirclemeBert
5:02
When does the trade frenzy start...do I really have to wait 3 weeks or do you think it is just days away?
Steve Adams
5:03
For a "frenzy" -- yeah, probably like 72 hours before the deadline. But there'll be other deals beginning to trickle in over the next week.
Brad Hand's Hand
5:04
Fox is obviously a garbage network. But can you tell me truthfully that Pete Alonso is an "obvious runaway" for NL ROY. Tatis is the most entertaining player in baseball and he never even got a mention last night when he should have been starting at SS.
Steve Adams
5:05
Well, being entertaining shouldn't get him ROY, but I think he's a better all-around player and will be neck and neck with Alonso and maybe Soroka for said honor.
