I don't think the Rays are telling themselves they need a closer; they need bullpen help and will pursue relievers regardless of current roles. Probably guys with some remaining team control -- though maybe they'll grab Romo back from the Marlins since he won't cost much to acquire and he's had success there recently

Reynolds is having a great rookie season, but he's nowhere near what Alonso and Tatis have done, and his success is much more predicated on BABIP, so I don't think he's as likely to sustain this pace. (I know Tatis' BABIP is sky-high, too, but he has more power and provides more value on the bases and in the field)

He's going to earn $10MMish next season in arb and will want a top-of-the-line catcher AAV for his free-agent years -- say $18-21MM depending on length of deal (longer contract, smaller AAV).

I'd guess something like 5/82 or 4/70 gets the ball rolling in talks.

Freddie Freeman signed for 8/135 when he had the same service time Bell will have this offseason. That was more than a half decade ago.
I don't think the Pirates would pay what it'd realistically take to extend Bell.
