Am I the only one that thinks Skenes should not be the starter for the NL. He is a great pitcher, but to put him above others that have already earned their stripes and put in the service is a little bit out there.

He's been the best pitcher in the National League since he was called up, and the All-Star Game is an exhibition game / marketing tool. Use it to drum up interest. My neighbor, who's only a casual baseball fan, loves Paul Skenes and is fired up for the ASG tonight because he wants to watch him. He probably wouldn't even tune into the game if it weren't for Skenes starting.

I imagine there's lots of people like that -- certainly far more of that type of fan than there is the disgusted fan who thinks "This should've gone to Chris Sale, I'm not watching."

It's fun. Skenes is great. He's earned it. It generates interest from more casual fans. I think it's a win all around and the right move on numerous levels.
