Pirates get vlad jr for Felipe Vazquez?
Steve Adams
3:35
Nope
Pujols
3:35
Pujols + couple of prospects + cash for Choo + Hamels + AJax('s contract).  Angels get out of a bad contract a year early and get an innings eater. Rangers probably aren't going to get many (if any) prospects for Choo or Hamels, and Pujols can help sell tickets as they rebuild.
Steve Adams
3:36
Choo is still raking, Hamels has some degree of trade value even if he's not bringing back a premium return. Rangers wouldn't do it

Is Neil Huntington top 3 worst GMs in the league?  See Alen Hanson.
Steve Adams
3:39
I think Huntington does quite well for the limited resources ownership provides him. They routinely turn scrap-heap pickups into legitimate pitchers who provide them on-field value and also can turn into decent trade pieces.

Besides, Alen Hanson was terrible with the White Sox in between PIT and SF, and he's had like 160 PAs in SF. It's not like you can proclaim him any kind of star. And every GM has a few guys they've let go
Jeff Luhnow released JD Martinez and won a World Series three years later.

3:40
will the Yakees trade Miguel Andujar or GleyberTorres
Steve Adams
3:40
Torres no. Andujar I can at least see, but I don't really expect him to go.

i thought 197 was the tax line, is 237 the next barrier which costs draft spots?
Steve Adams
3:41
$197MM is the initial luxury tax threshold. If you exceed it by more than $20MM, you pay a surtax. If you exceed by $40MM, you pay a higher surtax and your top pick is bumped back 10 spots.

Fransisco Liriano for Brandon Drury.. would the yankees take it
Steve Adams
3:41
They would not.

3:41
Does Arenado get traded?
Steve Adams
3:42
Cannot fathom it happening this season. In the offseason, it'll at least be mentioned as a possibility

3:42
Can you guys please STOP linking every tradeable player to the Red Sox?  Their minor league system is bare and they have left yo Offer, unless they want to trade off of their big league team.
Steve Adams
3:43
Sorry to be blunt, but the whole "THERE'S NO ONE TO TRADE" is a laughable overreaction. Jerry Dipoto has had one of the worst farm systems in the Majors since he took over as GM in Seattle, and he's made more trades than anyone. Even a "thin" farm system has plenty of guys that other teams want.

Not every player is traded for a Top 100 type of prospect. Most aren't.
That goes for the Cubs as well, who elicit the same type of reaction frequently.

3:44
Tyler Skaggs to the Yankees?
Steve Adams
3:44
I don't think the Angels will move any of their controllable starters.
Bob
3:45
Cole Hamels to .......?
Steve Adams
3:45
Pure guess; Back to Philly.
AG
3:46
How about a bullpen arm for the Brewers?
Steve Adams
3:46
I don't think the bullpen is their biggest need, but it never hurts to strengthen a strength. Getting better by any means should be on every GM's agenda. But I do think adding an infielder will be more of a front-burner issue for Stearns & Co.
Cracker Jack
3:47
What percentage is there that Josh Donaldson will be traded?
Steve Adams
3:47
I can't see it with him not having played in more than a month and with a $23MM salary.

3:47
If MIN falls off do you think they move Kyle Gibson?
Steve Adams
3:48
He probably doesn't get talked about enough as an option. If the Twins are out of it, he's a really nice looking option for contending clubs. Another year of control, affordable salary, strikeouts are through the roof this season, still getting grounders, etc

3:49
Do you think package of one of Britton or Givens + Adam Jones bring back a haul headlined by Mejia?
Steve Adams
3:49
I don't think either of those packages would bring back Mejia. I don't even think Adam Jones has any real trade value.
Ryan
3:50
What moves, if any, do you forecast for the Braves?
Steve Adams
3:50
Bullpen arm, mid- or back of rotation starter
Mr. M
3:51
If Dodgers land Manny, would you consider them the favorite to sign him in the off-season?
Steve Adams
3:51
No -- they'll have Turner and Seager still. Could move Turner I guess, but he wants to play SS and they're not going to move Seager.
cash-man
3:51
Hmmm, maybe Justus Sheffield is my best pickup for a SP?
Steve Adams
3:52
I think he stays with the org and comes up in the second half
Orbit
3:52
What do you see the Astros doing: standing pat, adding a closer, middle reliever, an outfielder or something else?
Steve Adams
3:52
They're not going to limit themselves by targeting only "closers," but I fully expect them to add a high-leverage reliever.
Trap Goin' Hamels
3:52
That top 75 list is really excellent and clear in its thinking. Thanks!
Steve Adams
3:53
Glad you enjoyed! Jeff did a lot of the heavy lifting on that, and I chipped in some along the way, but that was largely his baby. Hell, it was a Top 50 list like a day ago. Even I was surprised to see it at 75 when he published, ha.
