How does one explain Bryce Harper's pitiful babip.  His hard contact rate is above career averages, his soft contact a career low . He is hitting a good amount in the air . This is also according to fangraphs

Shifts play a part, but there's unquestionably an element of randomness and poor luck at play in that regard as well. It's not like he wasn't shifted in previous seasons, and his career BABIP is like 90 points higher than his 2018 mark.

He'd be a perfect fit for just about any team. If you're comfortable with the Yankees giving up guys like Sheffield, Andujar, Frazier, Loaisiga, Florial -- that top top tier of talent in the org -- then sure. But it's going to be really costly to add him, and I don't expect the Cards to move him in the end.

Returns on corner bats in recent years haven't been good. I don't think they'd get much, but they didn't give anything up to get him, so anything they pick up is a plus.
