Steve Adams

I don't know that I'd call him the favorite, but he does lead the league in fWAR, and he's certainly going to be in the top 3-5, so there's a decent chance.
OL' PERFESSER
3:27
Verlander to the Dodgers ?
Steve Adams
3:27
I don't think he's going to get traded.
Alex Wood
3:27
Am I the NL cy young?
Steve Adams
3:28
Not when Scherzer has 50-60 more innings than you
Bud Norris
3:28
Will I get a chance to be a closer again?
Steve Adams
3:29
Some rebuilding club or a team without a clearly defined closer could sign him this winter and put him in that mix, sure. Padres? (Assuming Hand is traded this winter)
Suppose round 1 of Padres/Bud Norris didn't go especially well, though
3:30
Mets traded for Travis Snider (sent cash to Texas) and signed righty Neil Wagner to a minor league deal
Mozeliak
3:31
Do I go after Machado?
Steve Adams
3:31
Selling the farm for a one-year rental of Machado doesn't seem like a great plan to me.
Scott Van Slyke accepted an outright assignment to AAA from the Reds
Brody
3:32
I heard the Astros and Tigers were close to a Verlander deal?
Steve Adams
3:32
Nowhere (reputable anyway) has said that the two sides are close, that I've seen.
Speak of the devil re: Marco Estrada
Jon Morosi reporting that he's been claimed by an unknown team. 48 hours from the point of claim to work out a trade

3:33
What three players are definately gone before next spring?
Steve Adams
3:35
I don't think the Giants are going to clean house or anything. But, I doubt they bring back Cain, and I can see them shipping Span somewhere. Beyond that... maybe Matt Moore is a change-of-scenery candidate? I don't think they're going to make radical alterations to the core of the roster this winter
Marc
3:36
Surprised more teams weren't in on Bruce for playoff run
Steve Adams
3:36
I am a little surprised at the overall lack of interest in Bruce, yeah. He has his limitations -- still can't get on base against lefties to save his life -- but he's a genuine power threat and a reasonably priced destructive force against right-handed pitching. I like the pickup for Cleveland
Brewers fan
3:37
We are fading fast.  If we miss the playoffs, how can we not regret trading for Sonny Gray?  You have to be in it to win it ( the Playoffs ).
Steve Adams
3:37
I don't think there'll be any real regrets. Gray would've cost them Brinson, who they still think is their long-term CF. And the Brewers' window is only just opening, not closing.

3:38
Is it me or the owner that prevents this team from getting over the top?
Steve Adams
3:38
Huntington doesn't set the payroll.
3:39
I think Neal and his staff typically do a really good job with the limited resources they have at their disposal. Sure, there are occasional misses, but they should be credited for the number of reclamation project arms they've successfully identified and converted on
Thad Levine
3:39
Possible waiver additions that make sense for my possible playoff bound club?
Steve Adams
3:40
Any cheap reliever. Zack Cozart kind of makes sense there, too (though Jorge Polanco suddenly remembered how to hit). Would be fun to see them claim Estrada just a couple of weeks after pivoting and trading Jaime Garcia.
Kevin Pillar
3:40
Do I finally not get robbed of a golden glove this year?
Steve Adams
3:42
He should already have a couple. There are some great defenders around the league, though, and Byron Buxton getting basically a full season in CF in Minnesota doesn't help Pillar's chances. Generally speaking, I think he should win one if not this year then in the near future, but I learned long ago to never expect Gold Glove voting to be especially rational
3:43
Buxton, Pillar, Cain, Betts, Dyson -- they should all be in the mix probably
Mike Napoli
3:43
Chances I make it through waivers and back in the postseason
Steve Adams
3:44
He'll clear waivers -- if not, he could very well be dumped on the claiming team -- so sure, a team might add him for a nominal cost just before the calendar flips to September.
Kenny Williams
3:45
What's my Starting 5 look like next season?
Steve Adams
3:46
Lopez, Rodon, Giolito, some random FA starter (one-year deal in the Derek Holland mold) and either James Shields or another org arm.
Could see them pulling someone in the Rule 5 if they like the arm well enough, though even rebuilding clubs have a tough time sticking a Rule 5 guy in the rotation for a whole year
3:47
Padres kind of did it with Perdomo, though. (Albeit after starting him out in the 'pen)
Nats Fan
3:47
Why doesn't Brandon Kintzler get any love? I wasn't thrilled that we "settled" for him at the deadline, but he has been superb since arriving.
Steve Adams
3:48
Doesn't get many strikeouts. I'm from Minnesota, though, and have watched Kintzler for the better part of two seasons on a pretty regular basis. Dude throws 93-95 mph bowling balls, has a great demeanor on the mound and has a quirky fun personality. I'm a big fan, and I think it was a good add for the Nats. He'll be an under-the-radar candidate for a nice multi-year (three?) deal this winter.
Marco Estrada
3:49
Who claimed me?
Steve Adams
3:50
If I knew that, I'd be reporting it right now! I also haven't had a chance to even attempt to find out, as I've been chatting :)

My guess would be the Rangers or Mariners, though. Doubt he makes it to the O's, Twins, Royals, etc. ... Getting past a Dipoto-led team that is hungry for rotation help seems unlikely.
