Conforto accept a qualifying offer? I assume the Mets give one
Steve Adams
2:36
After the year he's had, it wouldn't shock me.

Is Boras Trea Turner's agent and what would an extension for him look like?
Steve Adams
2:38
We have a database listing players' representation on the site:
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/agencydatabase

He's repped by CAA Sports. Turner is a $250-300MM free agent as it stands, and he's already made considerable cash. There's no reason for him to take any sort of discount.

Seager, Correa, Baez, then Story?
Steve Adams
2:39
I'd rank the shortstops this offseason: Seager, Correa, Semien, Story, Baez.

ETA for Torkelson and Greene to MLB
Steve Adams

Early to mid-2022

In your estimation, do we see Bobby Witt before the year is out?
Steve Adams
2:39
I'll put that same early to mid-2022 projection on Witt Jr.

Do you miss August trade deadline?
Steve Adams
2:42
I miss the extra layer of transactions, sure. I don't miss explaining to people that it's not a big deal that so-and-so is on waivers, that it doesn't really matter that he got claimed, etc. Nor do I miss the constant confusion about waiver order, though we still run into some of that.

(Revocable August trade waivers were league-specific in terms of waiver priority; outright waivers are based on overall record.)

The NHL are putting an ad patch on their sweaters like the NBA does on their jerseys. Do you think the MLB or NFL are far behind?
Steve Adams
2:43
MLB and its owners love money (duh, who doesn't?), and that's a pretty low-hanging fruit. I imagine there'll be ads on jerseys eventually, yes.

Can the Cubs realistically add Correa/Seager, another middle of the order bat and a top of the rotation pitcher this off-season?
Steve Adams
2:44
They can, sure. They have $41MM on the books next year. I don't think they will, though.
Starling Marte
2:45
Will the A’s have the most creative off-season?
Steve Adams
2:47
I'm going to write about this sooner than later on the site, and I already touched on it in my write-up of the Starling Marte trade.

I think they're likely in for an offseason that is pretty upsetting for fans. The combination of Bassitt, Manaea, Olson and Chapman alone could command close to $40MM in arbitration, and they also owe arb raises to Laureano, Trivino, Montas, Pinder and Kemp -- among others.

Canha and half the bullpen are free agents, and the farm is not good.
2:48
They'll have holes up and down the roster, little in the way of internal reinforcements, and an enormously expensive arb class. They're going to trade some players away and it probably won't be well-received... but such is the life of an A's fan, I suppose.
White Sox
2:48
Do you expect the White Sox to pick up Kimbrel's option for 16 million?  With Hendricks, That is a lot of money tied up with two relief pitchers.
Steve Adams
2:49
They wouldn't have traded Madrigal for him if they weren't going to pick up the option.
They've got a pair of $25-30MM-a-year outfielders and one of the game's best shortstops making relative peanuts -- I don't think they mind paying market value for two of the game's best relievers.

is the Ozzie Albies contract one of the best deals in MLB right now?
Steve Adams
2:50
It became the most club-friendly deal in MLB the moment he signed it. I was dumbfounded by the deal and wrote as much at the time he signed it.

FanGraphs writers keep listing Marcus Semien as a SS when he is a 2B. Do you folks really think a team would spend north of $18 Million to put Semien back at a position where is defense was suspect without Matt Olson and Matt Chapman?
Steve Adams
2:51
I think most teams would simply disagree with you that Semien's defense was suspect. I can think of a few off-hand that definitely would.

Hey Steve. Is Nelson Cruz a Hall of Famer?
Steve Adams
2:52
I think so, but the Biogenesis stuff will prompt some people to pass on voting for him.

Where will the Brewers fall short in the postseason...batting or relief pitching?  And will Yelich or Huira finally find their swing?
Steve Adams
2:53
I'm not simply assuming they'll fall short. I'd worry more about the lineup than about the bullpen, personally, and I'm more bullish on Yelich rebounding than Hiura.
Re: Nats
2:53
I'd love Semien and his defense at SS in Washington! Would 4/$88m do it?
Steve Adams
2:53
I don't think so, no.
2:54
He's a $100MM+ guy by a pretty wide margin at this point. Take out Semien's first three weeks in 2020, and he's been elite since Opening Day 2019. He's hitting .270/.349/.500 with plus defense and plus baserunning over his past 1500 plate appearances.

Where do you see me playing April 1st, 2022?
Steve Adams
2:55
Target Field (or wherever the Twins open the season)

Will there be a CBA in time to avoid a lock-out/strike in ‘22?
Steve Adams
2:57
I have a hard time seeing them actually reach a new deal before the current one expires on Dec. 1, but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that they'll fail to reach a deal in time for the season to still happen as scheduled.

Angels free agent targets? Scherzer?
Steve Adams
2:58
Yeah -- take your pick from the big-name free agent starters. Scherzer obviously likes southern California, but any of these top-tier, older free agents might prefer a more obvious contender.
Freddie Freeman

Do I hit free agency? Even if I do, how big is the chance I leave ATL?
