What rookie do you think deserves more attention even though they won’t win ROY? Mine is Michael Busch
Steve Adams
1:33
Tyler Fitzgerald comes to mind. Cade Smith in Cleveland. Austin Wells to an extent. I feel like Busch has gotten a good bit of attention, personally, but he's had a nice year, for sure.

What kind of contract can I expect this offseason? Years - $ wise.
Steve Adams
1:36
Depends in part on when he's expected to be ready to pitch next season. Syndergaard got $21MM coming off a two-inning season when he'd wrapped up his own TJS rehab, but he was expected to be healthy for Opening Day.

I could see something in the $16MM range with plenty of incentives to push it north of 20. I'm sure there'll be some two-year offers as well.

SFG , do they have Snell and Ray for 2025?
Steve Adams
1:38
I don't think Ray will opt out, though it's not totally out of the question. Snell will, and even though it wasn't there last winter, I do expect the market will present the types of long-term offers that weren't really there and that the Giants have avoided making to pitchers. So, I suppose my official prediction (aka complete guess, ha) is that Ray will be and Snell won't be.

Do you see Torres staying with the Yankees or them using that money to try and sign Soto and just move Jazz to 2nd?
Steve Adams

I think Gleyber is gone this offseason

What Bat makes sense for Detroit this offseason? This season has shown there's a chance to start the window for division/playoff contention.
Steve Adams
1:40
An outfield bat makes the most sense to me... Teoscar, Santander, Bregman. I agree they have to ramp up the aggression this winter and that they should be in the mix for upper-echelon free agents.
Pete Alonso to??
1:41
to The Orioles, after the Orioles get rid of Mountcastle.   Thoughts???  I don't think Mike Elias will shop outside of Walmart type stores.  He's more of a Swatch guy than a Rolex.
Steve Adams
1:41
Given the glut of position players they have and the general need for pitching, I'd be surprised it they allocated the resources to Alonso instead of just pursuing a marquee arm with that same money.
1:42
You can argue they should sign Alonso and trade prospects for pitching, but Elias has been pretty conservative with trading away top prospects.

The Nats might be on the cusp of relevance for the first time since 2021. If you were in Mike Rizzo’s shoes, what would your priorities be this offseason? Big free agent splash (Soto/Burnes, etc.)? One more year of bounce back candidates to flip at the deadline? Does the service time clock ticking on Abrams/Gore/Garcia make the team more aggressive?
Steve Adams
1:42
Priority would be very simple, if it were me:
Bring Soto back.
1:43
Simple as that. Hard stop. Go all out to get him.

Is the Martian going to get regular AB's?
Steve Adams
1:43
He is, yes.
Cashman and Boone have both said as much. He might get the odd day off but I'd be surprised if he sat more than one or two of the Yankees' remaining games.
Log jam?
1:44
Will free agent signings be held up by the top free agents again? Who are the culprits? Players, owners, agents? And which players specifically will be the cause….Soto, Burnes ?
Steve Adams
1:46
If there's a hold-up, I imagine it'd be Soto. So many teams are going to view the other top free agents as their fallback if they don't get Soto, but he's going to be the top priority for the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers and others. If you're Teoscar, Santander, or hell even Burnes/Bregman/Fried/Alonso/Snell ... you probably know that several of your top suitors are going to wait around to see if they get Soto and then if not have huge money to spend elsewhere.
1:47
Soto might want a relatively quick free agency and might want to be off the board by the end of the Winter Meetings. We can't know how it'll play out. But he's the clear potential to be a holdup on the entire free agent market this winter.

What happens with Alex Verdugo after this season?
Steve Adams
1:47
He becomes a free agent and signs a one-year deal with a team other than the Yankees

What will KC do this offseason?
Steve Adams
1:49
Have got to improve the outfield. Bringing in another veteran starter would be good too, especially since Wacha's going to opt out.
Another Adams

JV looks finished. A lot of hard contact against the D-Backs the other night in one of his worse career starts. Will he accept an assignment to the bullpen? I dont think so.
Steve Adams
1:50
Never going to call him "finished." He's Justin freaking Verlander. He came back from Tommy John surgery at 39 and won a Cy Young, haha. He's certainly looking rough right now, and he might not get back to form this season, but he's signaled that he wants to keep pitching, and with a full offseason to get healthy, I wouldn't be surprised if he's back to being a quality pitcher next year. Cy Young-worthy? Probably not. But I'm not proclaiming him cooked because he's struggled in a few post-IL starts.
Spoiler Alert

Corbin Burnes does not exceed 250mil, and signs with NL team.  Watch.
Steve Adams
1:52
I don't think he's at all a lock to top $250MM, so that's a perfectlyreasonable prediction. I don't really see why he'd prefer an NL club over an AL club when there's no functional difference between the two anymore, but you've got a 50-50 shot of being right there, so no reason to push back on it either, ha.

Speaking of Noah, will Syndergaard pitch again?
Steve Adams
1:52
Sounds like he wants to get healthy and give it another go. Someone will give him a minor league deal if he wants it, yeah.

1:53
Can you see the Twins blowing the final WC?  I find it hard to believe, but it may be possible.
Steve Adams
1:54
Sure I can see it. They're only up three games and they have tons of key players on the injured list (Correa, Buxton, Ryan, etc.)

I don't think they WILL blow it, but it's not like I'd be shocked at this point either. If you'd asked me two weeks ago, I'd have more emphatically said "no way," but that was before the free-fall they've had. It's in play now, even if it's still not probable.
Soto Deal
1:55
I think Boras’ opinion is flawed. Ohtani will pay less in taxes ultimately based on how he structured it
Steve Adams
1:56
Both things can be true. Ohtani makes more money in the long run, but the deal also doesn't move contractual precedents forward in the same manner that one would've expected from a genuinely unique free agent who happens to be the most talented player of his generation (and arguably ever).
