I'll say A's with the caveat that the Angels are likelier to spend on the roster this season and improve their outlook, so that answer could change by April. But right now, Oakland. Errr. Sacramento?

I understand what you're saying, but being an avid Astros fan who watches most if not ever game, I can say I think you are being too loyal to someone who is now 41 and facing the undefeated Father Time. JV is throwing 92-94, with an occasionally 95-96, but his fastball is flat with no life and mostly in the middle of the zone. His breaking and offspeed pitches cant find the strike zone. He's done! Massive respect to the man and HOF player, but this season should be it. The only way I see him back to the Astros is on a 1/10 deal at max!

He doesn't have to re-sign with Houston. Another team will give him a chance if he wants it, and he's signaled he does. Just because the fastball looks flat right now doesn't mean it will with a whole offseason of rehab and workouts. We've seen far, far stranger rebounds.

Mets have exceeded pre-season expectations. Is this still a successful season if they miss the playoffs?

I understand anyone who says "Of course, missing the playoffs with that payroll is an absolute failure," but a lot of it was inherited by Stearns, and the team was clearly in something of a transitional phase last offseason. I think being in the thick of a Wild Card chase late into September makes it a successful season relative to the level of activity Stearns invested last winter.

Are you buying bichettes new comments about wanting to stay in Toronto? I'm not
Steve Adams

I have zero reason not to take them at face value. He didn't have to comment on his future at all. Even if asked directly about it, he could've just said "My focus right now is getting healthy, getting back on the field before the end of the season, and then working my butt off to get back into form next year and be the player I know I can be."

No one would've batted an eye.

He went out of his way to say he wants to stay in Toronto alongside Vlad.

can you give me a concrete reason Austin Wells isn’t being considered for AL Rookie of the Year? I can barely find anyone talking about him but he’s been pretty impressive. (Not a Yankees fan, but definitely not an Orioles fan either)

He had a pretty mediocre first month or two before really picking it up, whereas Colton Cowser came out on fire and has since cooled down. It's hard to shake that early perception sometimes. If you want to argue Wells should win the award, I wouldn't push back on that much. Cowser probably benefits from having 40 extra games over him though
