Do either Rendon or Cole clear $200M? Do any of the secondary SPs besides Strasburg (Wheeler, Ryu, Bumgarner, Odorizzi, Keuchel, etc.) top $80M?
Steve Adams
2:26
I think Cole can (and will) top $200MM. I have a harder time seeing Rendon but it wouldn't shock me.
I don't buy anyone other than maybe Bumgarner clearing $80MM in that bunhc

Does MLB tweak the ball in the offseason to suppress the HRs a bit?
Steve Adams
2:28
I don't see how they have a choice. They'll probably overcorrect it in hilarious fashion, and Manfred will still act surprised and befuddled as to how such a thing could have possibly happened. Form another committee!

If the Dodgers lose a 3rd WS in a row, does the franchise consider a shift in philosophy?
Steve Adams
2:30
Making it to three straight WS would be an immensely rare accomplishment. If you make it that far three times in a row, what you're doing is working and shouldn't be changed based on the outcome of a seven-game series.

If you're talking small-scale philosophies (being a bit more aggressive in adding relief help, for instance) -- that's one thing. But some kind of philosophical overhaul? No way. The run the Dodgers have been on is amazing. Most teams would kill for consecutive WS appearances and three straight years with the most wins in the NL (if not all of MLB)

I can't watch these chats anymore

For a second I wondered "ah what am I doing that's so wrong" and then I looked at the username and laughed

Do you think Markakis can add more depth to the lineup coming back from the fractured wrist?
Steve Adams
2:32
He was only having an average-ish season prior to the wrist injury. That said, average is an upgrade over some of the recent alternatives, so sure I guess.
2020 Twins Rotation
2:33
Jon Gray seems like a great trade Target for the Twins rotation since 3 or 4 of their starters are Free Agents this off-season .  What would the Twins give up?  And how much is Gray likely to make? And how long till he's a free agent?
Steve Adams
2:34
Gray would be a great trade target for basically any team eyeing rotation help. I think most clubs -- particularly more data-driven ones -- would love to get their hands on that type of raw arsenal and see what they could do with it.
2:35
I don't think the Rox will trade him, as that hasn't been their MO under Bridich and Monfort really.

He's controlled through 2021 and is earning just under $3MM in 2019 -- $7MMish next season and then maybe $11-12MM the year after seems like a plausible arbitration trajectory
Cardinals

What should we do with Ozuna?
Steve Adams
2:36
I'd make him the QO and let him sign elsewhere
Rob
2:36
Will Cavan Biggio be good?
Steve Adams
2:37
I like him as a low-batting average, high-OBP guy with a decent blend of power and speed. I don't think he's a star, but a solid regular? Sure I'm buying.
90's Braves
2:37
I don't know about your take on the Dodgers. Trust me, winning all those games without more rings ain't nearly as fun as it looks.
Steve Adams
2:38
Sure, but you could always be the 2000s Mariners and just never even make the playoffs. (Sorry Seattle fans)

Who plays second base and shortstop for the Reds next year?
Steve Adams
2:39
I don't think they'd have claimed Galvis if they didn't intend to exercise his option.
2:40
So he's got one spot, and then either VanMeter at 2B or maybe someone from outside the org. There'll be tons of options both in free agency and trade. Always are at second base.

The days of the Yankees getting the top free agent are gone to me. Hal is not like George he seems to have a lot more self control than George did although as a Yankee fan George did good things and a long list of trading every young talent in the 1980’s
Steve Adams
2:41
Most teams are more measured and responsible, which is too bad. It's boring to know that 10-15 teams want a free agent and all value him nearly identically with no inclination to go north of that hard line they've set.
Iglesias
2:42
Given my year with the Reds, who should go after me next year?  Twins maybe?
Steve Adams
2:44
Twins seem set with Jorge Polanco and I'm assuming Luis Arraez up the middle in 2020. But Iglesias should get a solid big league deal this time around. Most contenders are pretty set at SS -- Milwauke could make some sense -- but as a utility option he'd be a great way to deepen any playoff hopeful's bench
2:45
Suppose in that sense you could say Minnesota, too, but they have a fair share of infield types already
Hey Steve!
2:45
Do you like stuff?
Steve Adams
2:45
Nah
It sucks

2:45
Should the Pirates trade Marte?
Steve Adams
2:46
They keep insisting that they're going to contend in the near future, and some of the core pieces they have are interesting, but I have a hard time seeing Marte play out that contract in Pittsburgh. If they're not in contention next summer and he's still there, that's about as long as you can go before cashing in on that value.
Devers MVP
2:47
Trout MVP??   WTF?  Devers has more runs, hits, RBI, 2B, 3B, higher Avg............
