Verlander and Syndergaard are the two most talented, but they could both just accept QOs. James Paxton. I think both Dylan Bundy and Andrew Heaney are both very talented guys who could prove steals on one-year deals. Maybe Greinke takes one year after his poor finish. Danny Duffy?

They don't really need to "re-sign" Duvall. Even if Duvall declines the option, he has under 5 years of service time so he'd be arb-eligible unless the contract expressly stipulates he be released should both parties not exercise the option. Should be entirely in the Braves' court.

After the season ends, do I DFA Boyd, pay him $6.5 mill. in arbitration to let him pitch a month or two next year and then hit FA, or try to sign him for 2 years for $7.5-$8 mill.?

There's no reason for Boyd to take such a small two-year deal. If it was "Sign for 2/8 or we'll DFA you," he'd go the DFA route and either get claimed/traded elsewhere or sign for a decent guarantee upon being nontendered and take the open market post-2022.

Go back and look at the Top 25 prospects on Baseball America, MLB.com, etc. for the past... well, forever, and you'll see dozens of guys in that same vein. Swihart is one, sure, but there are so many. Fans (and teams) overvalue prospects a lot.

I don't think he'll have a ton of value. He's a fine player, but he's basically playing on a one-year, $15.25MM deal with a net $16MM decision on a 2023 club option. Teams won't view him as a viable shortstop.

Look at what free-agent second basemen have gotten in recent years, and it's not that impressive. Segura is a good player, and paying him a $14.25MM salary plus a $1MM option buyout isn't some egregious overpay, but there's no surplus value there relative to the open market.

Schoop signed for $4.5MM last year and even on an extension this summer got $15MM over two years ... same amount Segura is owed in total but spread across multiple seasons.

Do the Twins go full teardown this offseason? With the Tigers and Royals rebuilds coming to a close and the White Sox looking dynastic, there's not a clear path to the postseason for the Twins.

They don't have enough MLB-ready bats to contend next year, so I'd expect them to sign some veteran hitters and try to trade for long-term help in CF and at C.

To your question though, they've already been doing this. Corey Dickerson, Adam Duvall, Sergio Romo, etc.

I doubt you'll see Miami dole out $15MM+ per season for anyone, but a Tommy Pham type or something makes some sense.
