I don't think so. Let's not forget that he's new to being a weekend starter, and that transition can take some time. And it can be particularly tough getting used to having to face the same lineup multiples time through, and I think that growing pain for Evans is what we saw last Friday, because his first three innings were fine before things snowballed on him in the fourth. Let's give him a few more weeks before we try to fully evaluate him.

Time to be concerned about Arizona after going 0-3 this weekend?

I don't love the weekend for Arizona, but the Oregon State game, for instance, could've gone either way. I think with Tony Pluta on the shelf for the season, there will be an adjustment period for the Wildcats. With that said, no shot am I throwing the towel in on Chip Hale at this point in time. Let's see what happens this week.

It's clear that UVA has a pretty explosive offense this year. Do you think they have the pitching needed to go to Omaha this year?

That's definitely going to be the question, especially given what we saw last weekend against Wagner. No disrespect meant toward Wagner, but that's the type of team you'd expect Cavaliers' pitching to handle better than it did. Kyle Johnson is expected back at some point soon, though, and if he's as good as he was reported to be during the fall and leadup to the season, that will be a big help.
