How about holding that LSU line up to 6 six runs over 3 games?  The home runs are starting to come and this team is shaping up to be what I thought they could be at the beginning of the year.  With an actual weekend rotation, I think this team has a better shot at Omaha than last years. What say you?
Aaron Fitt
12:56
Yeah, I think you're right -- the starting pitching is much better this year for Arkansas than it was a year ago, which makes me believe this is the better, more balanced club overall. Last year's team just had incredible mojo -- but hell, this year's Hogs have only lost one weekend, which ain't too shabby. In the fall, everyone asked me who the best teams I saw were, and I told everyone "Arkansas and Oklahoma State."  For me, it was pretty easy -- those two stood out above everyone else, among the 40 or so teams I saw (I did not see Tennessee). Still feel like the Hogs and Pokes are two of the top contenders to win it all.

How many bids do you see coming from CUSA?
Kendall Rogers
12:56
Guest -- two bids with USM and La Tech with a chance for a third potentially coming from someone like UTSA/MTSU/ODU. There won't be four IMO.

A lot of season still left, but gut feel as to who makes/misses postseason play out of the following:  Florida, Vandy, Miss St, Ole Miss, & LSU.
Aaron Fitt
12:58
I feel like Florida, Vandy and LSU are all teams I would bet strongly on to make regionals. The other two are just wild cards, and I'm not sure what to expect from either of them. We'll surely discuss this at length in tomorrow's Nerdcast.

Is the SoCon Showdown in Macon gonna make an appearance in the staff pick’em this week?
Kendall Rogers
12:59
Absolutely it will. Wofford vs. Mercer is a huge series. I think the winner of that series has a solid shot to be in our Top 25 next week. I also think the one and only Aaron J. Fitt is heading there this weekend.

Fact or Fiction…Southern Miss will be the only regional site in the state of MS in 2022?
Aaron Fitt

Fact.

So, I'm here to stink up for my Pitt Panthers again.  3-1 week with a series win against a top 10 team and we still cant get any love???   Kidding, but in all seriousness, we have a huge week ahead and are seriously banged up.  Pitt beat Virginia on Sunday was 5 regulars out and one other hurt during the game.  The job these guys are doing is unbelievable
Kendall Rogers

Jim -- Pitt is banged up, so that is a concern moving forward. But Mike Bell and his staff continue to do an amazing job.  They got screwed out of the NCAA tournament last year, and this team looks to be in solid shape right now at above .500 in league with the RPI in the mid 40s. Huge, huge weekend with WVU and Miami on the docket. Go 2-2 or 3-1 against that grouping and you've gotta feel pretty good down the stretch.

Safe to say we've reached panic time for UNC's postseason chances considering the remaining schedule?
Aaron Fitt
1:01
Tar Heels are 8-10 in the ACC, with series upcoming at UVa, at NC State, vs. Wake, vs. FSU. That is daunting.... but it also presents plenty of opportunity for UNC to make noise and bolster its resumé if it can get hot again. But coming off four straight series losses, I don't feel terribly confident in UNC's ability to withstand that gauntlet.

How much leash does Coach Gill have at SC after this season of the team does not make the conference tournament?
Kendall Rogers
1:02
DMan -- That's a great question. My issue with USC is what aspect of that program at this point do you look at and go "you know what, I think they're about to make a big move." I thought that UCLA series might've been a turning point for the Trojans, but they've imploded since and are now 4-11 in the league. not good.

The Pac 12 is really tight right now, with legitimately 5 teams who have the talent to win the conference (OSU, UO, UCLA, AZ, and Stanford).  If you had to put money on it, who do you think comes out on top by the end of the season, and why?
Aaron Fitt
1:03
Sticking with my preseason pick, the Beavers. They've been the most consistent team, I love the position player group, they have continued to pleasantly surprise on the mound despite a couple key injuries, and now they've got Pfennigs back. That's a very good top five in that league, but still think OSU is the class of the bunch.

Which conference has been the most impressive so far in the season?
Kendall Rogers
1:03
Ben -- I'll be honest, I've been really impressed at the sheer depth of the ACC this season. I feel like that league is just filled with well above average teams and a couple of elite clubs. I can't wait to see what it does in the postseason.

Good stuff as always gang, that's all for me today. See you next week!

Any shot Big Ten gets three bids?
Kendall Rogers
1:04
Matt -- I would have the Big Ten at two right now with Rutgers and Maryland with a potential for a third. Illinois at 10-2 in the league and 64 in the RPI intrigues the heck out of me -- Iowa and Michigan are within striking distance, too. My hunch? A third team emerges as a likely third at-large team.

All right, gang. That's all the time we have today. See you next week!
