What do you think West Virginia’s ceiling is? They’ve played rather well in non conference play but haven’t played any conference games yet
Kendall Rogers

Guest -- I think they could put themselves in position to host, much like they did a few years ago. I think they have a solid one-two punch on the mound, and it's abundantly clear they can really hit with JJ Wetherholt and others leading the way. With that said, the Big 12 is very much wide open right now. I could see the order of finish  in that league being all over the place over the next couple of months. With that said, I like what WVU has done so far.

What do you make of Texas sweeping TTU this weekend? Are the horns actually a contender for the Big 12 title?
Kendall Rogers
1:01
I want to see how Texas looks this week against A&M and Oklahoma State before I proclaim Texas is back for good, but there's no doubt that they're a much better team than they were the first three weeks of the season. Peyton Powell has been this year's Murphy Stehly so far (he's red-hot), and Porter Brown, Eric Kennedy are having good years as well. Also, my man Dylan Campbell has finally started to figure things out a little bit. UT is trending up for sure ... how far up? We'll find out against a tough slate this week.

How tough was it to drop Ole Miss out the rankings? On one hand you have a team going into their third SEC weekend without an SEC win but those last two SEC weekends were against elite teams. Idk feel like Ole Miss would win a lot of series against most of the teams from 10-25.
Kendall Rogers

We had some deliberations about Ole Miss staying in the Top 25, but at the end of the day, I think you lose some credibility by having a team 0-6 in the SEC ranked in the Top 25. Do I think Ole Miss is a Top 25 team from a talent standpoint? Zero doubt. But it has a lot of work to do right now. The pitching is particularly troublesome for me with a road series coming up this weekend.

UTSA has been on y’all’s radar but is not ranked for another week. How much did their 2-2 week (with the close wins) hurt their case? Being in C-USA do they have to run the week slate to find themselves in the Top 25?
Kendall Rogers
1:04
Guest -- I don't think the 2-2 week 'hurt' UTSA so to speak, but I just thought some other teams had much better weeks. With that said, this is a cool team to follow. I saw UTSA on Friday, and I really like Josh Killeen and Antonio Valdez. Both of those guys were ultra-intriguing hitters. I also loved Luke Malone (particularly his toughness), and Simon Miller was rock-solid out of the pen. They're going to be a handful if they make the NCAA tourney. Pat Hallmark continues to do an A+ job.

What did we learn in Austin this weekend?  Texas better than we though or Tech worse than we thought?  Does the Big 12 have a single team that can compete with the top 4-5 of the SEC?
Kendall Rogers
1:05
Matt -- I think we learned that Texas is better than it was earlier this season. I also think we learned that Brandon Beckel is pretty dang important to that Texas Tech bullpen. Not having him available because of the suspension was a killer late in the game. As for the Big 12, Oklahoma State would be in that discussion for me vs. those top four or five SEC teams, but outside of that? Nah.

I’m not sure is needed for Mississippi State patience or a coaching change. I have liked our staff since day one, although I can’t help but question it now. I also know that most of our pitchers are young and that’s where most of the problems are. Can this staff get it right? Should they be given more time or is it time for a change?
Kendall Rogers
1:07
Joe -- I truly believe that Mississippi State should give Chris Lemonis another year no matter what happens this season, but that would mean (for me) that he goes into 2024 in a must-win situation. Mark Kingston and Nick Mingione are in must-win situations, and both are thriving this season. With that said, there's no doubt something need to change. If this continues, I expect at least one change on the staff. We will see, though. It's a LONG season.

Which is more shocking.. A 0-6 Ole Miss or an 0-6 MSU??..
Kendall Rogers
1:12
JJ -- I would say Mississippi State being 0-6. Ole Miss still has a chance to turn things around and have a great year, IMO, but it's hard to find much to be excited about when it comes to MSU. They aren't a very good defensive team and they stink on the mound right now. It's kind of mind-blowing how bad MSU is right now ... to be honest.

How impressive is the ECU weekend rotation? Is there a better Sunday starter than Josh Grosz?
Kendall Rogers
1:14
Chris -- The one thing I love about ECU right now is that it has a complete rotation. It has a little bit of everything with a huge arm in Yesavage, Josh Grosz is doing a great job, and Carter Spivey is a very accomplished arm, obviously. Aaron has more history seeing ECU up close, but this might be the most 'national title' worthy rotation they've had .. we will see if that continues. I'll see Yesavage on Friday.

How much damage did GCU do their at large hopes last week?
Kendall Rogers
1:15
Lopes -- I know it sounds ultra weird to be worried about anyone's at-large hopes on March 27, but I thought the weekend really hurt them. GCU is sitting at 74 in the RPI right now, and if you look at its remaining schedule, it's tough to find the wins necessary to get to an at-large worthy resume. With that said, if they could just find a way in, this is a very dangerous club.

hey Kendall how are you doing today?

I'm doing well man. Looking forward to bunking together in Omaha. #handsoff

After going 5-0?this week TCU did not make it back in the top 25. They were 11 two weeks ago. What are your thoughts on them?
Kendall Rogers
1:17
I feel much better about TCU moving forward if it can just get healthy. Garrett Wright is back, and Cam Brown has been absolutely nails on the mound. With that said, Kurtis Byrne and plenty of others remain banged up. We will find out a lot about the Frogs over the next two weeks against Texas Tech (on the road) and Oklahoma State (at home).

Who do you think needs the series win more Texas A&M or Ole Miss? I'm going to say Texas A&M
Kendall Rogers
1:18
I think both teams are in must-win mode this weekend, which makes this series ultra-intriguing. Ole Miss is in really rough shape if it is 1-8 after three weeks, and the same can be said about the Aggies if they lose this series.

How close are the USC Trojans to being ranked in the top 25?
Kendall Rogers
1:19
They were really close to being ranked. I would say they were 26 or 27 on our board. I love what the Trojans are doing right now -- and that home series win over Stanford is pretty loud. What's really interesting about the Trojans is the overall numbers aren't overwhelming or anything, but they're getting the job done, and that's all that matters. Major props to Stanky and Co.

Is CUSA going to be a one bid league this year?
Kendall Rogers
1:20
Hmm -- that is a great question. I'll say it is a two-bid league at this rate. I think UTSA and Dallas Baptist will get in ... I'd also keep an eye on FAU and Charlotte the rest of the way. I know the resumes don't look great right now, but both of those teams have upside.

Guys First Class as always D1 baseball !!!  Any concerns about Thatcher hurd ? Would u make a change here or let him fight through it, I could see Garret Edwards replacing him.
Kendall Rogers
1:24
I'm going to answer your question about Hurd over some of the other ones because I think you bring up something interesting about Garrett Edwards. He's an intriguing option. He held his velocity well for a few innings against A&M when I saw him a couple of weeks ago, and the changeup was a big-time pitch for him in that outing. I think as long as LSU is winning series, Jay will let Hurd work things out. But we will see.

Who's your front runner for SEC Player of the Year: A) Dylan Crews, B) Paul Skenese, C) Jac Caglione, D) Other. And how do these 3 stack up as far as National POY?
Kendall Rogers
1:26
It would be Crew or Cags for me, and I honestly just can't go against Crews right now. His numbers are simply outrageous right now. He's my pick... but man I love Cags, too!
Jon
1:29
How about them Gators! How much of Caglianone's success this weekend can be contributed to having Wyatt Langford back in the lineup? With him and Luke Heyman back, the Gators lineup seems awfully tough to pitch to 1-9.
Aaron Fitt
1:29
Sorry I'm late today gang -- thanks to Kendall for picking up the slack! That Florida offense looks downright terrifying right now, and you're right, having Langford back in the lineup only makes Cags that much better. It's just really hard to navigate the heart of that order, and I think 1-9 they are as good as any team in the country. Feels like there's a legitimate top tier right now with LSU, Florida and Wake Forest, and I think Vanderbilt and Virginia have played their way into that mix as well.
Craig
1:31
We all know the top four conferences, but who do you see as the next best conference between the Sun Belt and Big ten? Who will get more bids?
Kendall Rogers
1:31
It's probably Conference USA after that -- but the Big West is having a much better year in 2023. I could see C-USA getting two bids .... MAYBE three if someone out of Charlotte/FAU surges down the stretch.

So I loved watching UVA get the sweep on FSU this weekend, but what the heck is going on in Tallahassee? That pitching staff is just not competitive right now and their defense cost them the first game after Baumeister gave them a chance with his start.
Aaron Fitt
1:31
Yeah it feels like the Seminoles could be in some real trouble. Virginia is obviously really good, but that's nine losses in the last 10 games for FSU -- no bueno. Just seems like they're struggling in all phases right now, and I don't know that there's an easy fix.

Hard to believe the University of Washington didn’t make it into the top 25.  Has there been a more impressive road series win than what they did this weekend at UCLA?
Kendall Rogers
1:34
Nick -- UW is definitely catching my attention. If you remember, I had JK's club pegged as a potential Omaha sleeper before the season, and they're meeting that expectation so far. Awesome weekend and they would've no doubt been in the Top 25 if not for a 2-2 week with an ugly pitching performance on Tuesday. UW, USC and Arizona State are all three trending up right now. Great to see.
