Hope, the committee seeds the top 16 only. After that, geography plays a major role in determining where the 2, 3 and 4 seeds are sent. They try to balance competitiveness too, I think, but they don't line up the 2s, 3s and 4s in terms of strength, so there are plenty of years where we get a "regional of death" scenario.

If Vandy finishes 15-15 in the SEC (1-2 series loss to LSU), what are their hosting chances? How many wins in Hoover would lock it up in that scenario?

In that scenario, I would think Vanderbilt needs at least two wins in Hoover to have a pretty good shot to host. Even with a strong RPI, the league record still matters. FWIW, I think Vandy takes that series at home from LSU and enters Hoover in solid shape for a host.

OK folks, that's all for me. Have a great week!

Should Louisiana Tech consider moving on from Lane Burroughs if they don’t make a regional this season? Seems like last year May have been a fluke.

You serious, Clark? Tech hosted a REGIONAL a year ago and is in line to likely make another NCAA tournament appearance this spring. How you guys forget about the Wade Simoneaux era... c'mon.

If Ucla sweeps Oregon State on the road and Stanford drops a couple games and somehow they win the pac 12, where does that put them? Could they host? Conversely if they get swept by Oregon state what would happen? Would they still be in?
Kendall Rogers

Stan -- I don't think UCLA is hosting right now no matter what happens the final weekend of the regular season. RPI of 62 right now. I just don't see how that gets anywhere around striking distance without winning the regular season title AND winning the conference tournament.

I'll give you a break from seeding or hosting questions and ask this instead.  Give me one 1 seed you think will be vulnerable, and one 2 or 3 seed you think can win a regional.

Tom -- I would still consider Texas A&M vulnerable outside of the first game of the regional because the starting rotation is still a gaping question mark, but the Aggies can really, really hit and Moo Menefee has emerged as a bullpen weapon along with Jacob Palisch. As for a two or three who can win a regional, I already mentioned Oklahoma, but I think UCONN and Texas State are much better than where their current seedings would be.

If ECU takes the series against Houston and does deep into the AAC tournament, do they have any shot of hosting a regional?
Kendall Rogers

Hilton -- ECU is kind of like Texas State in the sense that's right there around 30 (outside of hosting range). If ECU rolled through the conference tournament, that would definitely become an option, IMO. But again, it would depend on what some other teams around them do, too.
