Out of Big 12 teams what teams as of right now are in and are on the bubble with work to do?
Kendall Rogers

IN: OU, Oklahoma State, Texas, TCU, WVU, UCF, Kansas State

BUBBLE: Kansas, Cincinnati, Texas Tech

Has your opinion of Georgia changed with how they’ve pitched the past couple of weeks? Johnson has seemed to develop a lot of these sophomores as the year has progressed. What would they need to over the next two weekends for a Top 8 seed seeing as how RPI will be in the Top 5?
Aaron Fitt
12:09
Yes, I'm coming around on the idea of Georgia as an Omaha contender -- for much of the year I just didn't think they had the arms. But you're right, Finley and Smith really seeming to come into their own changes Georgia's outlook, and I like Zeldin at the back end. And obviously the lineup is scary. With Georgia's RPI, I think they'll be a top 8 seed if they can get to 17 SEC wins (currently 13-11).

Does the idea of "If the Cajuns win the SBC regular season they will make a regional" still hold true following the series loss to Troy?
Kendall Rogers
12:10
If Louisiana wins the No. 5 RPI conference's regular season championship, it will be in the NCAA tournament. I don't really give a damn what the RPI says -- they'd be in.

How much are Alabama's 11 Q1 wins proping up their tournament resume?  Would a series loss to LSU bump them tenatively out of the field?
Aaron Fitt
12:11
Bama is so strong in the RPI that I think even a series loss to LSU wouldn't crush them. As long as they can win 2 of 3 the following weekend against Auburn to get to 13 wins in the league, they'll be in, with that strong RPI.

Thoughts on LSU after this weekend, 3 SEC series wins in a row. Chances of making it into Regional Play?  How many Wins do y'all think they have to get too in SEC play.
Kendall Rogers
12:11
Trace --  I thought LSU played its best series of the year. The Tigers made big pitch after big pitch against a potent A&M lineup, and I thought righthander Christian Little looked pretty solid out of the bullpen. As of right now, I think LSU will get to 13 wins. I'm thinking series loss to Alabama, series sweep of Ole Miss at home. That's where my head is at right now. That would get LSU in, IMO.

If Kentucky wins the SEC outright will they be in conversation as the #1 overall seed or will that head to head loss to Tennessee hold more weight than the metrics?
Aaron Fitt
12:13
I think winning the league outright would carry more weight than a head to head result, particularly since it wasn't a sweep.
Brendan
12:15
What is Texas Tech?  I know they're a baseball team but nothing else seems clear.
Kendall Rogers
12:15
Brendan -- I'm not sure I've ever seen a weekend in the Tim Tadlock era like the one against Oklahoma over the weekend. Give the Red Raiders for fighting at the end of the series finale, but for the most part, OU controlled that entire series. Hard to believe, but Tech is likely missing the NCAA tournament without a series win in Stillwater this weekend and/or a deep run in Arlington.

Is ANY lead safe with this year's Oregon State pitching and defense ???  Considering these huge elephants in the room, can they possibly make any kind of post season run?
Aaron Fitt
12:16
Honestly it feels like no lead is safe anywhere in college baseball. Everybody has the same problem -- it's really hard to get 27 outs in this crazy offensive environment. So if everybody is flawed, it kinda cancels itself out, I guess. Absolutely the Beavers can make a deep postseason run -- and I believe they will do just that.

Which teams have done enough to be guaranteed to be a Top 8 National Seed?
Kendall Rogers
12:17
I feel really confident about these teams as Top 8s right now:

* Texas A&M
* Arkansas
* Kentucky
* Tennessee
* Florida State
* Clemson

I am close to throwing ECU in that mix, too. I like what UNC has done as well, but FSU has a better chance to finish the regular season exceptionally strong. So, basically two spots are up for grabs right now in my eyes.

If Dallas Baptist can win their next two series, and win conference tourney, does an RPI of 20 and a record of 45-13 get them a host?
Kendall Rogers
12:18
In that scenario, I think DBU would have an incredibly strong case to be a Regional host. The Patriots would check a lot of boxes and certainly pass the eye ball test. The thing now, though, is that the competition for those last few host sites is pretty intense right now.

What are your thoughts on the acc hosting race? What does NC state need to do in the last 2 series to host?
Aaron Fitt
12:20
Obviously Clemson, UNC and FSU are hosting locks. UVa, Duke and NC State all have strong cases. For Duke and State, they just need to keep on climbing in the RPI, and State obviously got a boost from that trip to Tallahassee, now up to No. 19 with a 14-9 ACC mark. I think a 3-3 finish (at UVA, vs. Wake) would be enough to get the Pack a host -- not an easy road, but NC State has proven it can beat anybody when it is on its game.

Why should the Big 10 get more than one bid this year? Or should it??
Kendall Rogers
12:20
If Indiana wins that series against Nebraska on the road this weekend, I think Nebraska and Indiana are going to end up getting in the field. I get that Indiana went through quite a lull, but that's a team that most certainly has looked the part against competition outside of of the Big Ten this spring. The Hoosiers pass that always important eyeball test.
Aaron Fitt
12:20
Folks, I apologize for my late start and early finish today, but I've got to catch a flight. See you next week!

12:21
Can UC Santa Barbara be a host?
Kendall Rogers
12:21
Absolutely. I really worry about the Gauchos' RPI with series coming up against RPI teams: 285, 88 and 267, but they will have a conference title and plenty of impressive metrics. But boy they have ZERO margin for error against Bakersfield and UCR.

Chants seem to be on a free fall the last few weeks. What do they have to do the remainder of the season to solidify an at large in Gilly’s last year?
Kendall Rogers
12:23
I think they need to win those final two series against GA State and Marshall, and I think it would be highly beneficial to win that Tuesday game against Clemson in the final midweek affair. Do those things and I think the Chanticleers squeak in. Remember, CCU athletic director/former AD Matt Hogue is the committee chair, and those things 100% matter.
Jacob
12:24
Who do you think is the sneakiest team who can make a deep run (and why is it Arizona)?
Kendall Rogers
12:24
Arizona is a good choice, but I am going with TCU. I get that the Horned Frogs have been asleep at the wheel offensively at times this season, but I still really like their overall personnel. I wouldn't want to play them in a regional.
Gator
12:25
Does Florida need to win both series against UK and Georgia to get in or would winning one and not getting swept in the other be enough.
Kendall Rogers
12:25
For Florida -- it's all about finishing the year over .500 from an overall standpoint. Do that and the Gators are in the field. It's pretty simple.
Wade
12:26
Will OK State and OU's head-to-head record matter at all determining a potential regional host from the big 12?
Kendall Rogers
12:26
Great question, Wade. In most cases it would, but I think that record is pretty much negated by the fact that OU is - three - games ahead of OSU atop the league standings. That washes that away, IMO. I think it's more likely both would host than OU not hosting and OSU hosting right now.
Athens
12:33
Georgia up to 13-11 in SEC. Will 3-3 against USC and Florida with their RPI earn a host?
Kendall Rogers
12:33
Georgia would definitely host with those marks, IMO. RPI would be in the 5-7 range with a 16-14 league record. That is a host.

12:34
Hey Kendall, Georgia Tech is in a unique place with Duke and FSU remaining. What needs to happen with the remaining 6 games to ensure they secure an at large bid?
Kendall Rogers
12:34
If GT loses both series, it will have work to do in Charlotte to make the field. Go 3-3 and I feel pretty good about where the Jackets stand in that scenario.

More of a general comment/question, but would love to hear some thoughts on the overall state of college pitching? ERA's feel very high this year nationwide. It's eye opening to see only a handful of teams have ERA's under 4.00. Is the pitching quality taking a step back? Are the hitters just getting better and better? Strike zones getting smaller?
