I think the biggest deal is that he may have aimed high.

There seems to be a strong innate urge to crown winners of tournaments and other postseasons as "the best team." But a moment's thought will reveal that a tournament winner isn't necessarily the best. Hockey has the President's Trophy for the team that amassed the most points during the regular season--but fans give approximately zero [turds] about that. Can you provide an approximate accounting of the reasons we care so much about postseason/tournament winners and not the actual long-haul seasons that are much better sorting algorithms for true talent?
