Hey, I don't really like writing, but I love editing other people's work. Is there a place for me in sports writing/editing/publishing?
Dave Cameron
12:46
Sure. Editing is a thankless job, but if you like doing it, there are lots of places that need editors.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mike Rizzo reading FanGraphs' article about their poor depth inspired them to sign Lind
Dave Cameron
12:47
Nah, there are plenty of people working in the Nationals front office that knew their bench sucked well before I wrote about it.

Hypothetically, whose monster spring training matters most?
Dave Cameron

Elmo

(I have a two year old. I couldn't resist.)

Am I crazy to think that the Rockies make a playoff push and could steal the NL West? They have a top notch lineup and they tried to patch up their bullpen which troubled them last season
Dave Cameron
12:49
You're not crazy to think it could happen, because baseball is weird, but you're crazy if you expect it; they're a good 10-15 games worse than the Dodgers on paper.

is Mookie Betts a better hitter than Manny Machado?
Dave Cameron
12:51
No.
Ray
12:51
Not sure if this was asked already. Do you know when we can expect Eric's top 100 prospect rankings?
Dave Cameron
12:51
We're aiming for March 13th. We know it's later than everyone else publishes their lists, but we'd prefer he have as much time to gather as much information as he can.

Name a starter you think would dominate out of the pen, and should make the switch
Dave Cameron
12:52
Tyler Glasnow.

If the MLB wants to push the WBC in order to grow the sport, they're doing a poor job of it aren't they? You can't say you're crowning a world champion if Trout and Kershaw aren't even participating in the tournament. How can the MLB persuade all the stars to show up? And would you agree that the tournament needs them if it wants respect?
Dave Cameron
12:53
I don't think anyone thinks the WBC winner is the "World Champion".
12:54
The event is about the game, not just about the best players.

What position will Moncada be playing in three years?
Dave Cameron
12:54
Center field.

Of the teams out there currently engaged in an active rebuild, which organization's rebuild contains the most risk?
Dave Cameron
12:54
Probably the Braves, since so much of their long-term bets are on pitchers.

12:55
Guess I'm out of the loop but why exactly are you in favor of DH in the National League?
Dave Cameron
12:56
Watching pitcher's strike out or bunt guys over is the worst part of baseball.
Matt
12:56
Regarding your response to the Rockies potentially stealing the division - is it not crazy for even, say - a Cubs fan, to *expect* to win the division?
Dave Cameron
12:57
The Cubs are so good, and so much better than the next best NL Central team, that them winning the division probably is more likely than not.
But that's pretty rare.

Heading to Bend for the first time this weekend. Where should I eat?
Dave Cameron
12:58
If you're a drinker, you'll probably spend most of your time at the 10 billion breweries we have here. I think Deschutes and Sunriver have the best food of that group. Versante PIzza is the best pizza we've had in town. If you want fancy, Zydeco is the place everyone raves about.
Matt
12:59
I don't mean this how it sounds - is Erik Longenhagen just a bit slower to build his list (I'll attribute it to thoroughness), or is it because he's building his first one and doesn't have a prior year to reference and build from?
Dave Cameron
12:59
The first trip through always takes the longest.

So, Machado is going to get at least $280 million over 7 years, right? Probably with a player option.
Dave Cameron
1:00
No reason for him to settle for 7 years.

Should given a shout-out to Spork (restaurants in Bend)
Dave Cameron

I've only been once, and wasn't as impressed as I hoped to be.
But sure, everyone else seems to be a big fan.

"Watching pitchers strike out or bunt guys over is the worst part of baseball"? How many at bats is that a game, 4-5? NL is far superior because of strategy of double switching and needing a deep bench.
Dave Cameron
1:02
Yeah, it just takes so much strategy to make a by-the-books double-switch.
