Not even close.

Assuming the yankees finish within 3 games of the Red Sox. If I told you that would've been the case before the season, would you assume it was because the yankees doing better than expected or the Red Sox doing worst than expected?
Dave Cameron
12:32
I picked the Yankees to win the division, so I wouldn't have been surprised.

Please do tell me where Toronto is heading?  Jays have a very good farm system and lots of money.
Dave Cameron
12:34
Vlad is awesome, and Bichette looks interesting, but this isn't a deep farm system full of guys who can help soon. And after next year, Smoak, Happ, Donaldson all hit FA, so that lots of money is going to either be spent trying to replace the lost production or keep aging guys around. With Tulo/Martin taking up $40M of the payroll in 2019, not going to be easy for the Jays to add significantly in FA.

Not a believer in Correa?
Dave Cameron
12:35
I love Correa.

Should Baltimore try to trade Machado this off-season?
Dave Cameron
12:35
Yup.

Do you think there is even 1 MLB manager who 1) knows what leverage index is 2) has a remote idea about roughly how it is calculated 3) would consider using their "closer" in the 8th if the LI was very high
Dave Cameron
12:36
Of course
I'd say there are probably 10-15 managers like that

Over the next 5 years, which young duo do you expect to accumulate more WAR: Benintendi/Devers or Judge/Sanchez?
Dave Cameron
12:36
NYY duo

$35M for 6 years!? LOL  He's going to start the '19 season at 33.  Good luck getting a deal like that.
Dave Cameron
12:37
Greinke got $34M per year for 6 years, starting at age-32, and he was a pitcher. And not as good as Donaldson.

Do you consider Rickey Henderson's SB records the safest OFFENSIVE record in baseball?
Dave Cameron
12:38
Safest record is probably single-season BA. It's virtually impossible to hit .400 these days. Too many strikeouts in the game.
12:39
Altuve, one of the lowest K guys around, is at .348 with a .373 BABIP.
You'd have to run a 10% K% and a .425 BABIP or something to hit .400.
It's almost impossible.

Do you consider Freeman one of the best hitters in the sport?  He's ranked 8th in wRC+ (players with 400 PA or more) ahead of Donaldson, Turner, Bryant, and Goldy.
Dave Cameron
12:40
He's also a first baseman.
He's a great hitter, but not at the level of guys who are great hitters and add value in the field and on the bases.

What is the most IP you would let a non-ace throw in playoff game, guys like Mchugh, Gray, Ryu etc

If Harper's contract ends up being 10X40, does it make sense to spend 20% of a team's soft cap on one player?
Dave Cameron
12:41
Sure. The percentage of payroll thing is BS.
12:42
Has anyone ever said "oh no, we only have $160 million to spend, we can't compete?"
A team with a $200 million payroll spending 20% of their budget on one $40M per year guy still has plenty of money to find 24 good players, and they have a superstar.

Is there a way for the Reds to patch together an acceptable rotation? They're a fun team, but still feel a level or two below going Brewers.
Dave Cameron
12:45
Castillo looks good, Ramano is interesting. If they can find their Chase Anderson and luck into someone developing out of nowhere, it's not crazy to think they could contend. But that requires a lot of stuff going right.
Mark
12:45
Please explain why the Jays won't contend the next 5 years (your reasoning why Donaldson shouldn't sign an extension with the jays).    Jays had over 3 million in attendance this year and  the organization is flush with cash.  The organization is run by a bunch of quality baseball guys with years of experience.
Stroman/Sanchez is a very good 1/2 punch to build a rotation around and Vlad/Bichette/Alford should arrive at some point next year.
Dave Cameron
12:46
Stroman isn't an ace and Sanchez just lost a year because his hands couldn't hold a baseball without cutting open.

Which underperforming teams this season have the most to look forward to next year? (i.e. records as a result of bad luck, injuries, up and coming young stars)
Dave Cameron
12:47
The Giants, probably. They aren't this bad.

on sunday, all the games will start within 15 mins of each other.  do you know the reasoning?
Dave Cameron
12:48
So that no one would have a theoretical advantage by knowing they've already clinched from an early game results.
Makes everyone roll out their regulars for the final game if it matters.

A team should really carry a Pinch Runner specialist in a 1 game playoff right?
