I like when lesser-known players take their helmets/caps off and you see their head/hair for the first time. Now I know Chris Iannetta is bald.

I may be a masochist, but as a Red Sox fan there is almost nothing in the world I would look forward to more than a 4+ hour Red Sox-Yankee playoff game.
Jeff Sullivan

Good news, Derek!
Meg Rowley

More Iannettas than Yeliches.
I guess in a lot of ways.
Jeff Sullivan

Hair can be annoying when you always wear a hat

How important is it for the infielders to know what pitch their guy is about to throw?
Jeff Sullivan
5:17
Very modestly important for the middle infielders
5:18
Indians/Astros at three hours and 11 minutes so far, with 1.5 innings to go
5:19
McCullers now in for the Astros. Which means, according to the research I just published a couple hours ago, today will feature perhaps the top five pitches in the game
Kluber breaking ball, Verlander fastball, McCullers curveball, Kershaw slider, and Chacin slider

Braun up with the bases loaded and two out in Milwaukee.
Jeff Sullivan
5:20
Right on that curveball. Just swung a bit over it
Meg Rowley
5:21
There are now three outs.
Jeff Sullivan
5:21
And a big wet fart of a rally. Still scoreless in Milwaukee!

I think signs are less important now that teams employ positional strategies (shifts, etc.) , which I gather are based on batter performance which dictates how a team pitches a specific batter.  So, my point is that defensive positioning is already taking into account the overall pitching strategy.
Jeff Sullivan
5:22
Yeah, but you still cheat, as a defender

to include Monday's 163 games- all 6 games so far this week have gone over 3 hours, with 4 of the 6 games over 3:20.
Jeff Sullivan
5:22
Always happens this time of year. The three-hour baseball game is a myth

do the brewers have the largest collection of Big Boys [aguilar, shaw, chacin, kratz] of the remaining teams?
Meg Rowley
5:22
The Yankees have Stanton, Judge, Voit, and Betances who we have forgotten is a Giant Person

All the pundits are picking Sox over Yankees, but Dan's updated ZiPS probabilities have the Yankees as slight favorites. Inneresting...
Jeff Sullivan
5:22
I think the Yankees are better

Did Jaffe and Dan irish goodbye us?!
Jeff Sullivan
5:23
Jay has family stuff and evening plans, and Dan I think said he'd be in and out

5:24
So tonight.  Sale/Kershaw.  Which one do you trust more?
Meg Rowley
5:24
Kershaw.
James
5:24
Can hitters use subtle defensive changes to predict what pitch is coming?
Jeff Sullivan
5:24
They happen too late in the pitch sequence to adjust to

Any team have more pressure than the Indians to win it all this year?  I understand the Red Sox had the best record, the Yanks won 100 and the Astros are defending champs, but I feel the Indians window is closing rapidly.  Sure, they have J-Ram and Lindor for the next several years, BUT, EE has one year left and is getting on the older side, Kluber will be 33 and Carrasco 32 by the beginning  of next season, then factor in Allen and Miller are both FAs.  It kind of feels like this year and MAYBE next year before their window closes.

The chat appears to be running smoothly, so I'm just going to stop by and say hello and confirm that Miller Park is really loud.
Jeff Sullivan
5:25
On the other hand, their division is going to suck for a while
Meg Rowley
5:25
Craig were the polite Midwesterners very upset about Braun striking out?
5:27
Or flying out rather?
Sean Dolinar
5:27
Have you had cheese curds, yet, Craig?
Meg Rowley
5:27
I'm doing a great job paying attention to multiple screens.

That's a new one. The ump just took a walk when the player called timeout. What a time to be alive.

Gotta stretch it out when the games take forever
