Are the Brewers the NLs best hope?
Meg Rowley
5:47
The Dodgers are good! But I like this Brewers team a lot.
You worry about pitching from different ends.
But like, the Dodgers are real good.

Getting beat by Hernan Perez really sucks
Meg Rowley

I often wonder how much it ends up feeling different.

Winning the pennant used to be having the most wins in your league (presumably because you would get, you know, a pennant). Now to get that same, shiny pennant, you must win the DS and CS. Is there something lost in not having a reward for winning a boat load of regular season games (outside of home field through the playoffs)?

I agree there's some fairness lost because the best team doesn't win, but it's a trade off. This tournament is a month of a exciting baseball with strategies and players being used to their extremes.

I know what you mean, because man, *that* guy. But getting trounced by Justin Verlander can't feel awesome either.

Are... are you in my Google Docs? Get out of there!

Haven't gotten to see any games today - have there been any more controversial hugs yet?
Meg Rowley
5:52
Nope. Bergman was out in a rundown but elected not to hug.
Might not be a hugger. Not everyone is a hugger.

boy, Alex Bregman has some sort of post season homer against list now.  Sale (2), Kershaw, Jansen, and Kluber…
Meg Rowley
5:53
He isn't the MVP (and postseason home runs don't make you an MVP) but he is incredibly good at baseball.
And I submit, the exact perfect amount of redass.

Who is the most likely hugger left in contention?
Meg Rowley
5:54
Kiké, right?
Kenley Jansen

Puig
Meg Rowley

He is more into other stuff it seems.
5:55
A hugger sure, but a more enthusiastic other stuff guy.
Well that phrasing sure was weird, wasn't it.

Tyler Anderson looks thinner

Then when?

5:56
do fans of other leagues care much about "best regular season" trophies?
Meg Rowley
5:57
Don't think so? Most fans of most sports care about how the regular season sets you up for postseason play.

LOL, The first inning?
Meg Rowley
5:57
I don't think stress is that fast acting.

most fans in the world care about best regular season.  not in the US.
Meg Rowley

I assume the implications are a little different?

With the Yankees, Red Sox, and astros employing Chapman, Wright, and osuna respectively. Do we have to collectively root for the Indians in the AL? What about indigenous persons who dislike domestic violence? NL only?
Meg Rowley

I think it is important (if depressing) to remember that no team lives up to its receipts. They might fail in different ways, and hurt or being indifferent to the hurt of different people, but no team is spotless. For instance, none of them pay their minor leaguers a living wage.
I don't expect fans to abandon their teams, though if that is what feels right, that is an option.
6:02
Fixing this is the responsibility of the league and the teams. I don't think, for instance, survivors of intimate partner violence who root for the Astros should have to stop cheering for Altuve because Luhnow made a mean, unnecessary trade.
6:03
All of which is to say, it's a deeply personal thing. If you have the means to donate to a local shelter or counseling service, that's a good option.

Why is Jon Gray not the roster? I mean he is AT LEAST a ok bullpen arm given he would throw in the upper-90s. The Rockies hate him for some reason.
Meg Rowley

I think it's the inconsistency (I mean, duh) but remember they can reset after each stage if they advance.
