I don't know the answer to this question but I don't think they would give it to him now.
Andy Friedman

Isn’t Mookie more valuable to us in the infield? Pages, DeLuca, and Ramos will be decent options at AAA and OF is easy to find in FA.
Darragh McDonald
4:30
It's hard for guys to stick in the middle infield as they age, even if they've been doing it their whole careers.
It was pretty awesome that Mookie just did it passably, but I don't think the Dodgers want to plan on him doing that long-term.
But I would love it if it happened.

Are the dodgers best team to sign ohtani?
Darragh McDonald
4:30
I would probably pick them as the best fit, though there are others.
4:31
It's also tough to know how much non-financial stuff matters to Ohtani, which I touched on in the outlook.
Some have suggested he doesn't want to be on a big media team like the Mets, Yankees or Dodgers. Is that true? I don't know.
What if he and the Dodgers have different ideas about his return to pitching in 2025? Does that matter to him more than money/winning? I don't know.

Do you think the Dodgers would prioritize signing Ohtani over starting pitching, even when he's slated to miss all of next year on the mound?
Darragh McDonald
4:33
Ohtani isn't even a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. A player like this has never been available before and may never be available again.
I think you make it work if you can and figure out your other short-term roster questions around that.

Any chance the Dodgers/Cardinals revisit a no possible Arrenado trade this offseason?
Darragh McDonald
4:33
I doubt it. Arenado has a full no-trade so he would have to want it, first of all.
4:34
Also, the Cardinals are hoping to be good again right away.

If Shohi would become a closer, bullpen guy, how does that work if he is the DH
Darragh McDonald
4:35
This is a good question.
Ohtani
4:36
I have no interest in being a closer.
Darragh McDonald
4:36
They made a new rule that he can be removed as the starting pitcher and stay on as the DH but I don't know if it applies in a bullpen situation.
4:37
He's not interested in being a closer now, but who knows what will happen in the next decade?
Terry
4:37
I’m stoked about the idea of Yamamoto as Dodger Ace, what’s our chances?
Darragh McDonald
4:38
Should be doable, but they will have plenty of competition. He's so young that any club theoretically makes sense. For instance, the Mets are sorta talking about a step back in 2024, but Yamamoto is only 25. He'll still be in his prime a couple of years from now, so he fits with them also.

Fire Friedman and Roberts.
Darragh McDonald
4:38
Okay, brb.

Will I return
Darragh McDonald
4:39
I just asked Friedman and Roberts while I was firing them and they said no.
Honestly, no one knows. Clayton probably doesn't even know.
He said he's going to take a few months to think it over and there's no real reason to doubt that he means it.

How much will I make in my first year of arb, given that I didn't play at all in 23?
Darragh McDonald
4:41
Our projections have him at $1.1MM. The league minimum will be $740K next year, so not much above that.
Yippei

Ohtani will sign how many days after WS is over?
Darragh McDonald
4:42
This is an unprecedented situation, so no one really knows. My guess is that it's not super quick. Maybe around the winter meetings in early December.
He will probably want to take a bit of time to discuss intangibles with different clubs. But there will also be pressure for it not to drag out.
4:43
So many clubs will have Ohtani as Plan A and everything else as Plan B. That will leave a lot of other free agents and teams playing the waiting game.

Who is your prediction for the under the radar signing we make ie. Tyler Anderson, David Peralta, heyward, Heaney…?
Darragh McDonald
4:44
Hmm. Sean Manaea.

Should the Dodgers pursue a guy like Aaron Nola or Snell along with Ohtani, or are they going to pursue a Montgomery or Gray.
Darragh McDonald
4:45
I think they'll be in talks with all of them. They probably need three starters and Ohtani won't be pitching. They've got enough payroll space to do a lot.

How likely is it that LA signs a top reliever?
