Teams have five days to decide to give it, then players get five more days to decide to accept or not.
Last year's World Series ended on November 5th and we published on the 14th.

why do you say that the Dodgers need 3 starters? i count Buehler, Miller, Sheehan, Pepiot, Grove, Stone, Kershaw. if a team like the Dodgers needs to sign free agent starters, are you also saying that the Cardinals need to sign 8 free agents starters?

Kershaw is a free agent. Other than Buehler and Miller, the other guys are still question marks.

Teams need more than five starters to get through a whole season since injuries are inevitable. Having five guys with Sheehan, Pepiot, Grove, Stone as depth would be a good place to be.

My gut was yes, but Anthony Franco astutely pointed out to me that it's a risk the Dodgers can't take.

Guys who accept a QO can't be traded until June 15th.
If JDM accepts the QO and they sign Ohtani, they have two designated hitters. Doesn't make sense. I think they have to pass on the QO to JDM.

He could but he also just signed with the Dodgers for 10MM. If they offer him a raise to 20MM and he liked being a Dodger, why would he say no to that raise.

It's pretty shocking, but he was traded before his first trip to free agency and wasn't eligible. Then the Red Sox didn't give him a QO a year ago.

Depends on the price, but sure. They need pitching. I think free agency is more likely but maybe they like the lack of commitment there.
