Oppo shots are not a common siting there
No righty has ever hit one in the water. And that one looked darn close.
Kevin Goldstein
9:53
Really?
Nicklaus Gaut
9:53
That's crazy
Luke Hooper
9:53
99% certain haha
Kevin Goldstein
9:54
I'm kind of fascinated as to how Alex Cora is managing. I think he's really good at it.
I wonder if he'll try to get six outs from Whitlock....
Gronch
9:54
Can confirm, 0 righty splash hits
weezy
9:55
does that one count as a splash hit? On one bounce, and might have gotten there if it didn't hit that high stack
Luke Hooper
9:55
It's only an official splash on the fly

Which team had the most IL days of any team this year? Is there a better metric for measuring injury impact? Wife thinks her White Sox had the toughest year injury-wise which has the feel of a "my state has the worst drivers" kind of statement. She's wrong, right?
Nicklaus Gaut
9:55
@drhoa3 can probably tell you

Giants have been swinging at 3-0 pitches all year.
Nicklaus Gaut
9:55
Good
9:56
I've spent much of my life being annoyed at pitchers throwing 3-0 meatballs.
Mark Walter
9:56
First playoff HR in 9 years for Posey.
Phil
9:56
Hell of an inning from Brasier.
Kevin Goldstein
9:56
He's looked very good for a month or so now.
Luke Hooper
9:56
This say Padres most IL time. Dodgers at 4, Giants at 6
Kevin Goldstein
9:57
The White Sox more had BIG injuries to Eloy and Robert and Yasmani for a bit.
but they're all good to go now and it's not helping.
Nicklaus Gaut
9:58
He was not jiggy with that.
9:59
Webb's stuff looks like its really moving well to start.
Kevin Goldstein

Good baseball today. Astros/White Sox was good until the 7th, Braves/Brewers good thru 9, TB/BOS still good all the way....
Nicklaus Gaut

man...

Kevin, you really think Muncy is better than Belt? Like clear-cut? I’m a Giants fan but they seem fairly equivalent if I’m trying to be objective.
Kevin Goldstein
10:00
I think Muncy is a more dangerous AB, but it's not some kind of slam dunk.

Is there an argument against technology assisting or replacing the umpires with the strike zone that isn't a variation of "I like games to be affected by umpires' mistakes?"
Kevin Goldstein
10:01
The technology just isn't ready for prime time.
10:02
Ok, Boston/Rays game good thru the 8th, Devers bomb puts them up 11-6
Scuffy mcgee
10:03
My best friend is a Giants fan. I love the Dodgers. After that bomb he thinks I should name my kid Gerald Posey, with my last name .Thoughts ?
Kevin Goldstein
10:03
I don't think you should name your kid after a baseball player.
Nicklaus Gaut
10:04
Unless it's Lip Pike or Fergy Malone.
Mark Walter
10:03
Posey had a .649 career playoff OPS before tonight. How much lower would that have to be for them not to trot out the "Posey has a history of clutch playoff performance" meme
Luke Hooper
10:03
When you hit a grand slam in a winner-take-all game you get the clutch label forever, and I'm fine with that.
Luke Hooper
10:05
But yes, he's spent most of his career being completely worn down by the time the playoffs come around. Kapler has really gone easy on him this year though.
weezy
10:04
This might be my favorite baseball day every year. 4 playoff games, running throughout the day
Nicklaus Gaut
10:04
It's a good one.
Kevin Goldstein
10:04
That was an exceptionally tough play for Seager, but he's still a fringy defender, and if you watched the Astros game and the defense they played, it's pretty easy to see why I think Correa will surpass him in terms of $$$ with room to spare.
