They have 3 choices: 1. could try to negotiate a long-term deal for much less per year; 2. Payhim $9.2 millin. 3. cut him

Ed, who are the top two Steelers free agents worthy of keeping, if there are any?
Ed Bouchette
3:39
Alualu and . . .

It seems as if many successful teams are running the ball more and playing solid D.  Are the Steeler backs capable of producing in the run game or do you think they need a stronger back?
Ed Bouchette
3:40
They need another back to go with James Conner and Jaylen Samuels. Then they need to change their philosophy about running just one back until the wheels fall off. Spread things around, like many successful teams do

Why was L Bell permitted to play after missing the walk through while AB was benched  ?
Ed Bouchette
3:41
AB missed the entire week of practices, not just the walkthrough
And Bell was late for the walkthrough
Ryno
3:41
With Porter gone, are there any people/former Steelers you would love to see take his place?
Ed Bouchette
3:42
I would look at Kevin Greene but Gerry Dulac believes they may just have Keith Butler do that job too

What is your pick for Pats/Chiefs?
Ed Bouchette
3:42
I like the Chiefs, who showed they actually can play defense last week
Aaron
3:43
Are the Steelers still up for a comp pick for Bell, if he leaves?
Ed Bouchette
3:43
That will be determined by others leaving and them signing other UFAs, but those picks won't come until the 2020 draft
John
3:44
If AB gets traded to lets say the Cardinals and decides he would rather retire than play with Josh Rosen.  Do we have to trade back what the Cardinals gave us or is AB now their problem?
Ed Bouchette
3:44
Their problem, unless he just flat-out refuses to have a physical.
Nate

Hi Ed, did the Steelers make any attempt to keep Munchak?  They lost the best Oline coach in the league!  Thanks!
Ed Bouchette
3:45
You need to read my story on that, which is online now.

Extend Tomlin now. Good idea or not?
Ed Bouchette
3:45
I would think they will
Black Jack Bill
3:46
Do you like the progress of James Washington in the final few games of the year?
Ed Bouchette
3:46
I really think he will be a player, just a little slower to develop than, say, JuJu was

Are the Steelers allowed to have a trade ready before league business starts in March?
Ed Bouchette
3:46
Yes, it's been done by others before
glen
3:47
Do you feel if the Steelers would have made the playoff they would have done the same as the Charges?   Not much against New England.
Ed Bouchette
3:47
They would have had to win their first playoff game first.

Why does nobody cite the fact that Bens Int rate was one of the lowest of his career?
Ed Bouchette
3:48
Consider it done

are the steelers front office fielding calls for AB at the moment? If not, when will teams start inquiring about possible trades?
Ed Bouchette
3:49
Although I have not heard anything, I believe Art Rooney's interview with Gerry Dulac was the realtor putting the for-sale sign on the front lawn.

What is AB's dead cap number if traded?  Seems to be mixed reports.
Ed Bouchette
3:50
The cap number is $21 million and change. The real hit, though, will be just $6 million because of his roster bonus and salary of $15.1 million that will be erased. Plus, of course, the money they use to replace him.

How is Butler being OLB and DC good for technique development of the OLBs?
Ed Bouchette
3:50
He was OLB coach before he became DC
Tom from VA
3:51
Hey Ed - We received a 3rd round pick for Bryant, shouldn't we be able to get at least a 1st plus something more for AB?
Ed Bouchette
3:52
It only takes one team. I just don't see them getting much more.
Thank you for another great chat. See you next Tuesday.
