All that stuff wasn't said through social media, as much as MIke Tomlin might have you believe. Mike Mitchell, the one who fired up the Jags the most, was interviewed by Sports Illustrated. Mike Tomlin was interviewed by Tony Dungy for NBC-TV. Other than Le'Veon Bell's Saturday Tweet, there was little on social media from the Steelers to fire anyone up.

As a HOF sports writer, many outside runs do you think must fail before you stop calling it, especially in a crucial fourth and one?
Ed Bouchette

Especially with a guy who isn't all that fast around end. I'm with you. Go to the I, power it up the middle. Methinks they no longer believe Bell is capable of doing that. Then they need a power back to relieve him and do it in those situations -- if Bell even returns next season.

Sad what Steelers have become. What say you...please don't tell me about Tomlins record in his defense anymore
Ed Bouchette
2:22
Then, I'm not sure what you mean by what they've become. Because they lost by 3 points at home to Jacksonville? I've seen that story before with other Steelers coaches. I reported on the Steelers of 1994 practicing their Super Bowl shuffle before the AFC championship game against San Diego. Bill Cowher was their coach and he let them do it in the team meeting room.
Don't talk to me about discipline unless you're willing to admit that other coaches also have had their moments without it.

Ed, chances Butler Survives this....?
Ed Bouchette
2:23
I think Butler will return, but I also think plenty is on the table and I would not exclude him.

Is Randy Fitchner prepared enough to be a good OC?
Ed Bouchette
2:24
He's coached a long, long time. He won't be any more prepared than he is now

bring whisenhunt and lebeau back
Ed Bouchette
2:24
And Woody Widenhofer and Tom Moore while we're at it.

Why is it "ludicrous" to fire Tomlin? the team underachieves and looked really foolish Sunday.
Ed Bouchette
2:25
You are one of those knee-jerk reaction fans who thankfully do not run a team. Wait, maybe you do. Is your name Jimmy Haslam?

Does Munchack have a history at OC?  Could he be promoted from within?
Ed Bouchette
2:26
He's never been a coordinator, but he has been a head coach. I'm not sure being a coordinator is rocket science. I'm sure he could handle it.

Do you buy MT's statement that Mike Mitchell's tweets/taunting outside the Jags lockeroom don't matter?
Ed Bouchette
2:26
It certainly mattered to him when Antonio Brown did it INSIDE the locker room last year

News on Connor's health and will that have an impact on Bell's negotiations?
Ed Bouchette
2:27
James Conner is not being considered as Le'Veon Bell's replacement.

NE won it all in 2001 with Brady's numbers that are very similar to Bortles this year. Is JAX's defense good enough to carry them?
Ed Bouchette
2:27
I think it could, but not sure I would say it will

marty shottenmier (sp) was fired after going 15-1
Ed Bouchette
2:28
No, he did not go 15-1. But how did that work out for San Diego after they fired him?

Any chance you think Mike Mularkey comes back?
Ed Bouchette
2:29
Can't say for sure, but I don't think so.

In ten years, I doubt anyone will say, "yeah, but they tied for the best record 10 years ago".... thats not the 'standard', one might say.
Ed Bouchette

I will acknowledge their upset loss to Jacksonville was not acceptable by Steelers standards. Had they beaten the Jags and lost in New England, would that have made that much of a difference? Does only winning a Super Bowl satisfy everyone? If so, you are in for plenty of disappointment through the years as a fan because Super bowl victories do not come along that often. The Steelers won 6 out of 51 and that's the most by anyone in the NFL. that's one every 8 1/2 years.
Thanks for another great chat.  See you next Tuesday.
