The 3-4 is not failing, just to those of you who somehow have fallen in love with the old 4-3.

The 3-4 was developed with speed in mind and that is the way the game is going. Better to have more linebackers and/or DBs on the field than big linemen.
I also do not know who told you the 3-4 was developed with the idea of stopping the run. That was more a 4-3 job with the bigger boys up front.
