Not sure about the money but Williams would be a great signing. Young and has caught 153 passes the past 3 seasons and averages 16.3 over his career. Roby did little until last season when he started 15 games for Denver in his fifth year with them. Just one interception.
And here comes the question for that previous answer:

Ed, there are reports that the Steelers are interested in both Bradley Roby and Tyrell Williams. What do you think are the chances they can get one or both signed considering the money getting thrown around thus far in free agency?

Hi Ed, Sean Davis Final year of contract.. Surplus of FA safeties again available, going rate higher than last year.. Do you see him getting extended or willing to extend this summer? Thanks
Ed Bouchette
2:43
It might  be a good time for that because the price should not be too high. They like him and this will only be his second season ever playing FS

Any chance Ben required the Steelers to get Brown dealt first before he'd talk about his extension, and that's why the Friday deadline?
Ed Bouchette
2:44
I'm not sure there's a deadline but with his $5 million roster bonus due then, I'm sure they'd like to wrap that into a signing bonus so they could spread it out and save some cap room this year.

What FA move if any would you predict could alter what we think on the draft. A WR, ILB, CB, and with The Outlaw gone TE?
Ed Bouchette
2:45
If they were to sign, say, Tyrell Williams, the need for a receiver on the first two days of the draft will no longer be there.

Does any of Shazier's salary count against the cap?
Ed Bouchette
2:46
All of it, $473,000

Ed, how much, if any, do you see the way AB was able to manipulate the system being a concern with owners throughout the league? Would it be foolish to think this was an isolated incident?
Ed Bouchette
2:46
I think it was isolated. TO did it and there wasn't a rush of others trying it.

How does this salary cap hit from AB this year work?  I understand it's the signing bonus, but shouldn't a new contract from his new employer get us off the hook?  What's stopping every player in the league from using this tactic?
Ed Bouchette
2:47
The new contract is all on the new team. The only thing that counts on the Steelers cap is the amount of pro-rated signing bonus they paid Brown, about $21 million.

With Jesse James going to the Lions, do you think the Steelers address TE in free agency or the draft?
Ed Bouchette
2:49
They still have their No. 1 tight end, Vance McDonald. Could use another and they may just do that, but I don't think it's a top priority

Is pick #20 almost a guarantee to be ILB or CB?
Ed Bouchette
2:49
I thought that was the case last year and it did not turn out that way. So, no guarantee, but it would seem to be likely

The "Steelers way" is to build through the draft. Our draft picks are leaving whenever they want. Now what?
Ed Bouchette
2:50
Keep drafting good ones

Why havent we signed anyone on defense with so many holes?  It looks like business as usual sign depth players
Ed Bouchette
2:50
Still a lot of candy out there in the store and we're just one day into the negotiation period of free agency.

Are you surprised by the mass (free agent) exodus out of Baltimore?
Ed Bouchette
2:51
A little bit, yes, especially on defense.

Hi Ed. A couple of weeks ago I asked you if there were anyway Brown could sabotage a deal if he were dealt to a team he didn’t want to go to. You said ‘only if he retires’ but didn’t see that happening. Well..... He did in fact do just that. Will this be addressed in the new CBA? Thanks.

I don't know how you prevent a player from retiring. The Bills always could have just made the trade and said to him, you'll play in Buffalo or not play at all and you'll owe us what's left on your pro-rated signing bonus (yes, Bills would have gotten that not the Steelers).  I also wonder why they didn't try to work something into the trade just in case Brown DID retire. A contingency could have been put in that if Brown did not play , the Steelers would owe Buffalo a 2020 draft choice, whatever they decided upon.
Thank you for another great chat. We won't see you next Tuesday because I'm off. Pick it back up in 2 weeks.
