Good afternoon, let's begin
phil .. welsh steeler
1:59
chris boswell is so important in clutch situations .. surely he has earned his payday ed .. or do you not agree
Ed Bouchette
1:59
They just gave him a one-year contract worth $2.9 million and will probably continue to work on a multi-year deal.
Doug

Ed - why is Mike Mitchell still on the team?
Ed Bouchette
2:00
They have not officially released him yet. That will happen by 4 p.m. Thursday
Tomm from Spain
2:00
Ed: I feel bringing Timmons back to add some depth, maybe run some Sub packages with him could possibly be and Idea. Not sure what he would ask for or what the Steelers wiuld pay. Thoughts?
Ed Bouchette
2:00
I don't think it would cost too much. The Dolphins reportedly paid him $11 million guaranteed on that 2-year, $12 million deal. I would think $2 million might do it.

Another ILB question...think Boise State's Vander Esch will be around by the time the Steelers #1 pick comes around & is he a 'true' #1?
Ed Bouchette
2:02
His stock supposedly is rising, and that's not good for the Steelers. Unusual year in which maybe 3 or 4  iLB go in the first round.
ALB
2:02
Ed, do you think the Steelers are realistically interested in signing any of the guys who have been released the past couple days?
Ed Bouchette
2:03
No, I don't. They do not operate that way. If they wanted a player back, they would try to cut his salary before free agency starts. If he declined, then they would cut him (as they did with James Harrison before he signed with Cincinnati). I can't remember them actually cutting someone and then signing him back, veterans like Mitchell and Gay, I mean.

Why didn't the Steelers put a non-exclusive franchise tag on Bell? We all know no team is going to give up 2 first rd. picks for him and at least having no takers would have sent a message to Bell that he's NOT all that!
Ed Bouchette
2:04
I can only surmise they did not want to go through all that and preferred to let him know they really do want to keep him.

2:05
Ed, How far apart are Steelers and Bell on contract? What do you feel the chances of a long term deal vs playing under the tag are?
Ed Bouchette
2:05
I think it's more than money per year because the Steelers offered him more than $13 million annually last year, according to Bell, and he wants $14.5 m. I believe it has more to do with guaranteed money, something the Steelers are not big on giving.

Any chance if the price is right we go after Suh, Hali or Butler positions we need especially Suh with Heyward and tuitt our run D will greatly improve.
Ed Bouchette
2:07
They're not going to pay that kind of money with two established and well-paid DEs because they play a 3-4 and they don't use three DL much because of all the passing. So, no.
Bus Driver Johnson
2:07
Ed have any of the recent trades or signings surprised you?
Ed Bouchette
2:08
The wide receiver money seems way out of whack. I'm not sure the Browns improved themselves much by acquiring Taylor from Buffalo at QB.
Todd - Michigan
2:08
With the Chickillo signing.. do you see Moats returning or getting a better offer else where?Great person and in the communityThanks
Ed Bouchette
2:09
He is a great person and in the community. He could return, but those won't be the reasons why if he does.

If the Steelers draft a TE, do you think it will be as early as the third round?
Ed Bouchette
2:09
No, I don't.
Sam
2:09
Where is Le'Veon Bell on the Mount Rushmore of Steelers' RB's. He's still behind Franco and The Bus IMO.
Ed Bouchette
2:10
It depends on how far back you want to go. They had a guy named Bullet Bill Dudley who led the NFL in rushing. Still, I would  put Bell No. 3 behind those other two, and if he sticks around he has a chance to maybe climb higher.

Hi Ed, Steelers tender Boswell our elite kicker ......he will be sign  elsewhere ? and we collect a second round pick? ...your take on this ?
Ed Bouchette
2:11
The Steelers would have a chance to match the other offer first. If they don't, yes, they'd get a second-round pick this year and would need to find a kicker.
Andy
2:11
Do you believe that the Steelers are really interested in bringing back Wilcox even though he was a healthy scratch at the end of the season?
Ed Bouchette
2:11
No news yet, so that's good news for Wilcox.
Jack
2:12
Do you think Bill Cowher will ever get into the HOF? Do you think he belongs in the HOF?
Ed Bouchette
2:12
I believe he is borderline and would have a chance some day. But he hasn't broken into the 25 semifinalists yet, so that's not a good sign. Jimmy Johnson won 2 Super Bowls and hasn't been able to make it.
Pete
2:13
I have seen some speculation that the Steelers might cut Haden, McDonald, Golden, Heyward-Bey, and even Foster.
Ed Bouchette
2:13
I think the only one they possibly could cut of that bunch would be DHB.
Jack
2:13
If their top ILB an Safety are both on the board at 28. Are they leaning more towards safety with the releasing of MM an big play Willie gay?
Ed Bouchette
2:14
Releasing Gay has no effect on that. They are more in desperate need for an inside linebacker.
Pete
2:14
There are some player trades going on now.  Do you see the Steelers trading for any players?
Ed Bouchette
2:14
If they do, it will not be a blockbuster and I don't think it will happen for awhile. Free agency is just about here and they will try that first.
Pete
2:14
Do you think the Steelers will bring back Mitchell at a lower salary, or cut ties with him altogether?
Ed Bouchette
2:14
He won't be back.
Greg Buggy Sr
2:15
Have you heard about any free agent moves by the Steelers? I know it's a day away.
