Is Bell demanding $ 14.5 M salary per year or an average of $ 14.5 M per year with signing bonus included?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
The whole package would average $14.5, by his demands
Thigpen
2:15
Let Bell test free agency. If he gets what he is asking for and the Steelers are not willing to meet or match then move on. An injury/suspension at the $ amount he wants would be devastating. Agree/disagree?
Ed Bouchette
2:16
They have already made their decision, they're keeping him. Whether the fans like it or not, that's what they are going to do. I proposed some alternatives last week and it appears they aren't considering anything else but perhaps another run at a multi-year contract.

Ray commented yesterday on how awful some mock drafts are.  Writers doing little or no homework into the teams. Are there any that you think do standout as being reasonably insightful?
Ed Bouchette
2:17
I think Ray's are the best.
Thigpen
2:17
Not that this is the Steelers style but could they wait until teams spend big then pull back the franchise tag. If other teams don't have the cap space come July then Bell's best $ option is to stay with Steelers. Ludicrous? Inconceivable?
Ed Bouchette
2:17
That won't happen.

Hello Ed, have you heard the Steelers mention any interest in Preston Brown? played in various schemes for Buffalo and made a ton of tackles. Relative value it seems as well.
Ed Bouchette
2:18
He is a name I've heard OTHERS mention. I believe the Steelers should try to sign an ILB in free agency and also draft one. Maybe the FA will be Timmons.

Is there any chance that JuJu supplants Martavas as number 2 on the WR depth chart on opening day?
Ed Bouchette
2:19
They have different styles, JuJu more of a slot receiver and Bryant on the outside. Really they are 2 and 2A

Ed - With all the contract discussions going on with Bell, his agent and the Rooney's what is Tomlin's involvement (input) in these talks?
Ed Bouchette
2:19
I would be surprised if he got involved in that at all.
Gary
2:19
even with the situational football...wouldn't a base 4/3 defense suit the team better?
Ed Bouchette
2:20
I'm  not  sure why people still think this because they do not have the personnel to fit a 4-3. Their outside linebackers are not 4-3 outside linebackers, for one thing.

2:20
Hi Ed Do you think the Steelers would move up in the draft if the top ILB and S are going early in the draft?
Ed Bouchette
2:21
No, not   early because that would cost too much. They could move a few spots, but I think they will stand pat, as usual, at least in the first round.
Scott from Erie
2:21
Any impediments (besides salary) to Lawrence Timmons rejoining the team? Does he still have a good relationship with Mike Tomlin?
Ed Bouchette
2:21
The only impediment would be if they feel his ability has diminished to a point he could not help them, as I see it.

Ed, Kevin Colbert said the steelers had to make changes.Last years team wasn't good enough. If they pay Bell doesn't look like anything changes. Your thoughts. Thanks
Ed Bouchette
2:23
Kevin says that every year. They will make changes because, for one, they are cutting Mike Mitchell and will draft some players. Maybe they'll even sign a free agent or two.
Scott from Erie
2:23
Why would the Steelers be interested in bringing back J.J. Wilcox if he wasn't deemed good enough to even suit up on game days late last season?
Ed Bouchette
2:23
Maybe to have some depth at safety until they find another either in the draft or UFA

2:23
Any chance the Steelers release Ramon Foster?
Ed Bouchette
2:23
That would really surprise me.

2:24
Ed, what is your opinion on how Bell will end up this year; playing on the tag or multi-year deal?
Ed Bouchette
2:24
Tag. If they weren't able to work out a new deal by now, there's no reason to believe they will later.
Kevin in Punxsy
2:24
I don't think that the NFL owners will be too happy with the Steelers for raising the salary bar for running backs by paying L Bell $14.4 mil this year.  Your thought on this?
Ed Bouchette
2:25
The NFL owners really don't care. They have a salary cap and however that money is spread around, it costs them the same.
Thigpen
2:25
With Gay and Mitchell being cut and still having to pay rookies, where are the Steelers realistically sitting with cap space(assuming those two cuts and no more restructures)?
Ed Bouchette
2:26
With the $2.9 M they have reserved for Boswell and the $1.9 M they have for Chickillo, it really doesn't leave them much. I'm doing math in my head on the run here so I would guess it's somewhere around $2 million or so in room when the dust clears from those deals.
Kevin in Punxsy
2:27
I saw that the Vikings are going to guarantee K Cousins three year $28 mil per contract. This is going to change things in the NFL. Your thoughts on this/
Ed Bouchette
2:27
It really isn't going to change much. QB salaries haven't climbed much since Ben did his last one, and now they are.

Does Kraft Macaroni and Cheese taste better with Heinz Ketchup?
Ed Bouchette
2:28
Why in the world would you put ketchup on mac and cheese?
Quentin
2:28
Do you see the Steelers drafting a WR as early as round three?
Ed Bouchette
2:28
That's possible, yes.

Good afternoon Ed. Do you see Pittsburgh eventually hosting the draft?
