A little glitch to delay our chat but nothing can stop us from answering your questions. Let's begin
2:10
Well, maybe a lack of questions will stop us because all the early questions disappeared. If you've ever wanted to ask, now is the time

Will LJ Fort make the team this year?
Ed Bouchette
2:11
That will depend on him and the other fellows competing for the job, like the undrafted rookie inside linebacker. There is room but he is more of a special teamer than someone they count on playing ilb

Who on defense looked the best today in shorts and t shirts? :)
Ed Bouchette
2:11
I concentrated on offense today.

If both parties conclude that the Bell contract is at an impasse, could Bell/Steelers circumvent the multi-year requirement with a second year that has a player-option and then sweeten up the 1st year a little bit to make it worth Bell showing up for Training Camp?
Ed Bouchette
2:13
So, they're going to give him even MORE money just to report to training camp? It's not the money this year, he wants a long-term contract -- of course, on his terms.

Could Gabe Rivera really have become another Mean Joe Greene? And if he had, how do you think that would have affected the Steelers of the 80s?
Ed Bouchette
2:14
Two really big ifs there that I cannot answer. I didn't see enough of Gabe -- I did not cover the Steelers in 1983 -- and I'm not sure one player would have made them champions again in the 1980s

I saw Keion Adams in camp last year and he was impressive, are they as high on him as I am?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
He wasn't healthy long enough to find out. He lost a whole year of development.

If you were the GM of Cleveland, would you have considered Barkley and Chubb as your first two picks?
Ed Bouchette
2:15
I would have drafted a QB with one of them. Maybe Barkley first and then the QB with their next pick
RD
2:16
Ed, do you think the steelers tried to kill two birds with one stone with Edmunds (safety/ilb) when they weren't able to get evans from bama?
Ed Bouchette
2:16
No, I think they went with the next best available need player
jim
2:16
Draft is over, heard anything on a long term deal for Bell?

RB play today? Conner look healthy?
Ed Bouchette
2:17
Yes, James Conner went through a full practice and you can read about it soon because Sean Gentile is writing a story on him

Did the Steelers make a conscious decision to draft big safeties that can tackle and cover as alternative approach to defense to keep up with evolving offenses, or did that just fit a narrative because they didn't like any of the inside backers in the first few rounds?
Ed Bouchette
2:18
They loved a few ILBs in the first round but could not get them. They went for big safeties because they needed them too.

Do you think Tepper will fare better as an owner than Haslem?  Will Art II purchase his 5% or someone from outside?
Ed Bouchette
2:19
I can't see how he can't afford doing better than Haslam has in Cleveland, can you? I mean, he can't go 0-17 this season. I would think someone in the current ownership group will pick up the 5 percent, maybe several will and maybe one will be named Rooney

Ed, Adam Schefter is floating the idea that LeVeon Bell might sit out of regular season games, continue to earn time toward free agency, save his body and just absorb the fines that will pale in comparison to his salary next year. What's the Steeler's counter to that strategy, if any, in your opinion?
Ed Bouchette
2:23
Throw the ball a lot more? If Bell does that, he will have missed $855,000 each regular-season week he misses. He will be a year older next year. Why not just play this season, earn the $14.55 million and try free agency next year? If he's worried about getting hurt, then he's in the wrong game.

Ed, Steve Blass of the Pirates developed a mental block which ended his career.  Have you ever seen a Steeler have the same issue, QB or position player?
Ed Bouchette
2:24
I've seen some QBs who could not hit the broadside of a barn door but it wasn't Steve Blass disease, they just stunk
Mark from Sauquoit N.Y.

Hi Ed,  Now that the drama of Ben meeting Mason is over, Do you believe Steelers are considering  Navarro Bowman or hoping others prove their worth in camp?
Ed Bouchette
2:25
It does not seem that way. Barring injuries, I think they have what they will have
Dewey K.
2:25
Okay Ed - who than looked the best in shorts and T-Shirts on the offense today?
Ed Bouchette
2:25
If I said Ben Roethlisberger, will you smack me?
I thought Mason Rudolph looked pretty good.
2:26
Tuitt and Matakevich practiced

2:26
Does Quadree Henderson have a shot at making team?
Ed Bouchette
2:26
Only as a special teamer which, in his case, means a return man

Surprised that Dallas got passed on again for another SB? They can't seem to overcome that disaster in SB 45.
Ed Bouchette
2:27
Such a shame

With all the draft picks they had and have coming in the next few years, its hard to see Clev not improve dramatically. Can they really be mismanaged that bad to not improve?
Ed Bouchette
2:27
How long have you followed the NFL? Can the Browns be mismanaged? It's like asking if Trump can Tweet
