What is the number you think the Steelers will not go above for Bell? Obviously cutting him would be stupid but I don't see them coming to an agreement long term contract do you?
Ed Bouchette
2:28
I've been consistent saying I do not believe they will come to terms on a long-term deal. I'm not predicting that because anything can happen, but I just don't see it.

How do you feel about Matakevich for this season? Do you see him having a decent chance to start next to Williams?
Ed Bouchette
2:29
Not unless Bostic is injured, which often happens
jim

Seems like we got Rudolph in exchange for Bryant. I think that wasn't a good swap. We could have Bryant and Washington as receivers this year, am I missing something. I know it was his last contract year, but without Bells salary next year we could have afforded to sign him.
Ed Bouchette
2:29
They were not going to sign Martavis Bryant long-term, not to the kind of contract he knew he could get elsewhere.

Hi Ed -- Laurel or Yanny?  I hear Laurel, so all of the Yanny folks must be wrong.
Ed Bouchette
2:30
I'm pretty tired about that argument. Actually, I heard "Play Ball!!"
AR

Ed, there you are, sitting just on the other side of this chat waiting for questions, and I can't think of anything to ask because it's May. Does that make me a bad fan or a bad person?
Ed Bouchette
2:31
Maybe just a sensible one. You mean, you don't want to know how new linebacker Jon Bostic looked playing no-contact drills in shorts and no pads today?
jimbo
2:32
is bud dupree healthy this year? breakout year?
Ed Bouchette
2:32
He's healthy now. It's either a breakout year or possible a break-up year
Chris
2:32
Will 2019 be bens last ride or will steelers extend his contract
Ed Bouchette
2:32
I'm only answering 2018 questions today
AR
2:32
OK, here's one: do you think the starting CBs in the base D are set in stone, or do you believe there's open competition (at least on the R side)?
Ed Bouchette
2:33
They will say open, but who is going to unseat Joe Haden and Artie Burns?
AR
2:33
Do you think one of these years the Brownies will actually beat the steelers in Week 1?
Ed Bouchette
2:33
They came close last year
Lonnie
2:33
The Rugby guy make as a tight end? Looks like he would make a great DE   chances of making the team?
Ed Bouchette
2:33
Slim

2:33
Hi Ed do you think they will sign another WR?  The depth is pretty slim below Washington Juju and AB
Ed Bouchette
2:34
As it was last year after AB, JuJu and Bryant

I don't understand all the articles (print and media) about gambling's effect on players. There's betting on sports now. Can you help me understand? Thanks
Ed Bouchette
2:35
Just that it will be more prevalent now. You are correct and the only ones who were willing to pay the players to shave points or throw games that we know of were the big-time gamblers, not the mom and pop amateurs who may enter the field legally now.
2:36
And I assume all leagues will still not allow players to gamble, just as the Broncos cannot smoke pot even though it's legal in Denver.

How do you see the backup RB battle playing out?  Do you feel that it is Conner's job to lose?
Ed Bouchette
2:36
Yes, it is, but Samuels the rookie may have a say yet.
Chris
2:37
Well how about this 2018 question if steelers win sb does ben retire
Ed Bouchette
2:37
No, he's committed another 3-5 years to playing and he means it -- barring, of course, injuries
jim
2:37
Anyone have a shot of unseating Foster on the Oline?
Ed Bouchette
2:37
I don't see it.
The Standard
2:37
Far fetched idea that you put another 10 lbs on Eddmonds and you have an ILb?
Ed Bouchette
2:38
Or another 70 and you can have a nose tackle.
Bake
2:38
Now that Eric Reid has not been signed similar to Kap, do you think there is an agreement among owners?
Ed Bouchette
2:39
Not like they all got together and decided not to sign him. I jut think they don't want the image problems that go with it. Yet, they re-sign players who commit domestic violence

What sorts of things is Tom Bradley teaching the defensive backs that previous coaches weren't teaching or couldn't teach?
Ed Bouchette
2:41
I'd have to talk to a defensive back and have not since practice began today.
jim
2:41
OK, teach Bell to kick field goals, then we can give him another 3 mil for that and boom, problem is solved. He gets his 15-16 mil per year!!
Ed Bouchette
2:41
OK, I can see we're coming to an end in this chat.

Hey do you see any potential for Sutton or Allen to insert themselves into the rotatin at fb?
