That is not a simple yes or no answer.

Why do you think the Steelers have been showing interest in QBs Jackson and Rudolph ?  A real interest or hoping for a trade down if the Steelers don't see a value they like at 28 ?
Ed Bouchette
2:31
You always cover your bases. You always evaluate the QBs, the most important position on the field. You just never know what might happen, maybe even in a future trade.

Ed, are the Steelers confident enough in Hargrave to not draft a replacement? Seems he got off to a solid start last season until he was slowed by an injury.
Ed Bouchette
2:32
I don't see a real need there.
Bill

The over/under on how many questions you get today on whether the Steelers should rescind Bell's tag is 30 - which way should I bet?
Ed Bouchette
2:32
There have been a bunch but not that many. You also forgot the trade part.

Hey Ed.  Great chats.  Is there any movement in trying to get Andy Russell into the HOF?   Stats are pretty similar to Ham and Lambert
Ed Bouchette
2:33
Yes, he has a good advocate who is doing a good job of spreading the word for Andy.

Ed, why are they willing to tie up so much in Bell this season, but won't for 2019, 2020, 2021.  If it's injury/immaturity history, why bother keeping him this year.
Ed Bouchette
2:34
He's healthy now, for one thing. For another, they have $14.455 M in him this year and now he wants an average of $17 M, supposedly

Do you think it’s possible Bell shows up and participates in camp to get on the “same page” as his teammates this year despite being tagged again?
Ed Bouchette
2:35
No, I don't.
Chris
2:35
Will steelers offer bryant an extension or just let him walk Rollin seems really high on him
Ed Bouchette
2:35
Not sure who Rollin is, but I don't think they will offer an extension this year.

No Jack Lambert? come on Ed...
Ed Bouchette

Who you going to take out?
Chris
2:36
Will pats really trade from hearing steelers brought up with this as possible suitors

Are you a Russian bot?

Concurred with your list of Pittsburgh stars. I would have been tempted to include Arnold Palmer. Maybe a stretch, but it's all for fun, right?
Ed Bouchette
2:37
I only thought of Pittsburgh pro team stars because, well, Arnie is Latrobe. You also could have added some individuals such as boxers.

If Ben plays 3 more years like he has said, do you draft a quarterback in 2019 or 2020?
Ed Bouchette
2:39
If his last year is going to be 2020 and you know that, then you better draft one that year or have a bridge QB until you can get one or wait until 2021 when you go 3-13 so you're in good enough position to get a good one.

Real question.  What are the different qualities that differentiate between linebackers in a 3-4 defense vs. a 4-3 defense.  I have read here that maybe our only linebacker that could play a 4-3 style is TJ Watt.  I am just curious about the differences.  Would like to see more true 4-3 alignments.
Ed Bouchette
2:42
Real basic now: OLB in 4-3 have more pass coverage responsibilities. Chad Brown, for instance, played OLB for Steelers in 1996 (moving from ILB after Greg Lloyd got hurt) and had 13 sacks in 14 games. He then signed as a FA with Seattle and played OLB in their 4-3 and had 6.5 sacks in 1997 and never more than 8.5 the rest of the way. Yet he was still a good OLB.

If the Steelers draft a running back between rounds 2-3 is that a sign they don't expect to resign Bell?
Ed Bouchette
2:43
it might be that plus they need another plus will James Conner be ready to go at the start of 2018?
Thank you for another great chat. See you next Tuesday.
