I'm skeptical about that figure. They offered him virtually 3 times that amount last summer. The signing bonus would have had to be at least twice that.

Hi Ed, will Edmunds hold out if not signed by first report date? He can't afford to miss any time..
Ed Bouchette
2:17
I'm surprised he hasn't signed yet. It's always possible he'll sign tomorrow and report on time. If he does not sign, though, he cannot report to camp.

Do they have any interest in Navarro Bowman to add some depth at LB? Or is that only a consideration in the event of an injury?
Ed Bouchette
2:18
That ship has passed -- barring injuries.
Eric Witt
2:18
Most memorable back-up steelers qb you've covered would be?
Ed Bouchette
2:18
Bubby Brister when he first backed up Mark Malone and later, when he lost his starting job, when he backed up Neil O'Donnell.

Assuming no devastating injuries or sudden personnel acquisitions, what are the Steelers weaknesses entering the season?
Ed Bouchette
2:19
I believe they are pretty obvious -- inside linebacker and depth at both inside and out.

What is the one thing that interests you personally the most with the upcoming training camp?
Ed Bouchette
2:20
Mason Rudolph
Chooch

Do you see teams moving away from kick return specialists given the new rules?
Ed Bouchette
2:20
The Steelers moved away from them unofficially years ago
Dimitrios
2:21
Do you think the addition of Edmunds, Burnett, Allen and Bostic will be sufficient to fill the void of Shazier?
Ed Bouchette
2:21
No, but they are better off in the secondary than they were last year.

Any progress on our most important signing this off season?  Boswell of course... any news on progressing towards a longer term contract?

Last year with the Big 3. Lots of teams are stacked and primed for a run. Do you think the Steelers should take a few chances this year to get them to the championship?  Maybe a few more trick plays, going for it on fourth etc...
Ed Bouchette
2:22
Trick plays do not win you championships. Talent and playing well does that.
Jud
2:23
If Ben gets hurt in his one snap in the Preseason, who would be starter week 1?
Ed Bouchette
2:23
Landry Jones.
Chooch
2:23
If you were the Commish, how would you resolve the player kneeling issue?
Ed Bouchette
2:23
I would ignore it.
Jud
2:24
Who are the starting 4 WR?
Ed Bouchette
2:25
Three -- AB, JuJu and James Washington. I think Justin Hunter can be No. 4. He had a great spring, although I've seen others fade in the summer after having those.

2:25
What instances would Hilton come off the field for Edmund?
Ed Bouchette
2:26
I don't know if that will happen.
Jud
2:26
Who are the starting linemen this year?  same as last?
Ed Bouchette
2:26
Yes, both on offense and defense
Eric
2:26
Do the Steelers view James Conner as a potential every down back should bell leave next year?
Ed Bouchette
2:27
Not at this point, I don't believe they do. WHEN Bell leaves next year, i think you'll see them draft one high.

We all know Bell will skip camp - will it hurt him much due to new OC?
Ed Bouchette
2:27
Not because of that. The offense won't change much. You can look at his start to the regular season last year and judge whether it hut him (and them) or not.
Jud
2:28
What do you think the likelihood that we bring in Timmons?  Only after someone gets hurt?
Ed Bouchette
2:28
Yes, to your second question.
DP
2:28
Short yardage offense struggled last year. Any hope to improve?
Ed Bouchette
2:29
I just wrote something along those lines in my story that should be online sometime this afternoon. You'd think with an All-pro RB, a Pro Bowl FB, three Pro Bowl OLinemen, they'd be pretty good at short yardage.

2:29
With the Gurley signing news, do you think Bell is now going to want even more money, and if you were Colbert, would you even write your time trying to negotiate with Bell after this season?
Ed Bouchette
2:29
I'd make him an offer, and then heavily scout the college ranks

Peter King recently wrote a nice piece on Steelers Camp experience in Latrobe saying, "For the gazillionth straight year, I attend Steelers camp in the rolling hills of west-central Pennsylvania. I’ve seen the fog kiss the grass on dew-heavy early mornings, I’ve seen the monks of St. Vincent watch in the heavy brown robes on the sidelines, I’ve seen—at dusk—Joe Greene sitting alone on Chuck Noll Field, smoking a long cigar; just thinking. You like football? This place, which geographically could be in Scotland, must be on your bucket list." What are your personal favorites about Latrobe/Steelers camp over your career covering the Steelers?
