Is OF the most shallow of the positions?
Eno Sarris

LF.

After 4 years I still can't tell: is Trevor Bauer good? Could he center a trade for an outfielder?
Eno Sarris
12:37
He made a big change to his delivery and has been finding his ability to repeat the new one.. has good stuff, but might have worked really really hard to become a major league average pitcher.

Ketel Marte and Mallex Smith. Starters or speedy bench players?
Eno Sarris
12:37
Both enough defense to be glove-first second-division starters.

has a young player ever been signed to an extension before they reach the big leagues?
Eno Sarris
12:37
Can't remember the deal for Jon Singleton but maybe him.

Can you explain your new gig to us? Or is it under-the-veil like August?

It's Beer Culture. It's BeerGraphs with funding and some lighter fair, some travel stuff. Events! Watch for events near you. I'll be in NYC in late January for a launch at a great craft brewery... it'll be fun.

Is the Giants window maybe 1 year two tops to when another world series ?aren't they getting close to being in a postion the blue jays are now or even worse the shape the Tigers currently are bloated payroll and need everything to go perfectly to have a shot ?

I said they were a year closer to disaster than people thought and got a lot of blowback. And maybe I shouldn't have used that term, but everyone is post-peak and locked into long-term contracts, which is a tough spot. Look at what they're saying now -- they're in the lux tax and can't afford to add salary, but they already have a hole in the outfield. And nobody is taking any of their bad money back, so they're stuck. Already stuck. And no hot young prospects to provide upside beyond last year.
12:42
A team with that park and that ownership and front office should be fine in bad years, so disaster is wrong word. But mediocrity could be closer than it seems.

Why have I not seen the Dodgers-looking-for-a-second-baseman rumors and the Phillies-shopping-Cesar-Hernandez rumors link up? Seems as though Dozier is the only one linked to the Dodgers so far. Could you see a fit between the Dodgers and Phillies there?
Eno Sarris
12:43
Hernandez is evaluated very differently across the game, depending on how much you're worried about his baseball IQ and his batting average on balls in play. I think he's probably a league average guy, so they should be linked, but it always depends on what the Phils want.

Josh Hader for real?
Eno Sarris

I'm a big fan.

What do you think of the plan to have Jason Heyward spend the Winter in AZ with Barry Bonds ?
Eno Sarris
12:44
He's got power in there. Someone can unlock it. Where Eaton is steady Eddie, Heyward has his defensive skillset and Huge Variance on the offensive end.

I got scared when you had that announcement, that August recruited you for his mystery MLB team. Phew.
Eno Sarris

Having seen some details on some opportunties, I don't think working in the game is for me.

Jose abreu for Lucas duda, Dominic Smith and Justin Dunn?
Eno Sarris
12:46
Mets jump all over that. Not sure it's enough.

There's been a lot out there about the White Sox not needing to flip Quintana now. Aside from the obvious reason of capitalizing on the dearth of pitching options in FA this offseason, it seems the time to deal Q is now given that extra year of value on his deal. In other words, Q does nothing for Hahn by pitching this year for them except diminish his value. Do you agree?
Eno Sarris
12:47
You have to balance against the idea that many of the guys you brought back are going to be in the big leagues next year, Q has more years than Sale did on the contract, and that deadline trades generally get you more back.. wouldn't be surprised if they keep him.
