I think it might be more of a 40-man situation. Didn't want to release anyone, Park still a free asset until you put him on the 40 man and have to manage him. I guess they give Vargas a couple weeks to a month before he's down for Park. Or maybe injury clears the 40-man spot.

Are you aware of any research on pitchers in Japan and other international leagues regarding TJ surgeries? Is the frequency similar to mlb?

Less frequent in Japan where they more rest, but the problem is they don't go to the surgery as often as they should, don't keep the same records, and don't have the same accountability to the media, so it's hard to trust the numbers completely.

As a German I love him. But as a exit velo guy, he's lacking there. Want to see him hit the ball hard this year or he's a .275/15/15 guy with good OBP, better real life asset.
