Rental starter, I like him, but lack of secondaries might make people think of him as a 'get to the postseason back end starter and then sixth inning man' type in another park or league. Bet he stays.

Will Blake Treinen get closer gig and run with it or fail like in DC?
Eno Sarris
1:14
Get and run.

You are pretty high on Mazara long term.  Does his current inability to hit lefties dim the outlook for you at all?
Eno Sarris
1:15
A little but lefty splits in small samples... I'd look to the fact that he has a decent two-strike approach as evidence that he'll be able to adjust to lefties eventually.

Is David Price a jerk?

I wouldn't have liked to have been on any side of that situation. It's fine to be critical of players, but instead of 'yuck' you can say something like, that's obviously not what he was hoping for, let's hope this thing he's got is fixed, I spoke with him and he said he didn't feel his change that day, but it's been the xth-best changeup by whatever metric. Hey, that has information for the viewer, doesn't treat the player as the punchline of a joke... don't love how the Red Sox treated him when it comes to players or organization either though. I guess Price felt he needed to be publicly shamed for the public shame he put on the player, but I'd hope for a more private scolding if I was in the same situation. And I've been privately scolded.

I know you wouldn't necessarily want to, but why wouldn't you want to work for an MLB team? Is it primarily family reasons and zero work/life balance?
Eno Sarris
1:20
I've been trying to uncover a role that doesn't require 150+ days of travel a year and every evening devoted to the team and pays decently. I have a little more hope recently, but that's a unicorn job.

Swydan said in his chat the baseball players are overgrown children in response to Price-Eck issue.  He said that you would not want to hang out with 99% of them.  99% seems real high.  What says you?
Eno Sarris
1:22
I'd revise that number down. I certainly agree that many are. But every clubhouse now has at least 1-3 players I'd legitimately like to have a beer with, maybe more. And that's out of 30.

So you think Buster is going to fall off a cliff soon?
Eno Sarris
1:23
No I just think he doesn't have their type of power and they are in their prime.

Early 2000's it was Money all OBP. Then it was defense, shifts and framing with the Pirates and Rays leading the charge. Seems like now it's exit velo/launch angle. What's your theory on the next big market inefficiency teams will be able to (temporarily) exploit?
Eno Sarris
1:24
I'm hanging with development. That includes injury, but improving our best practices and finding unique solutions for each player in our own organization means we'll have the breakouts from our own players instead of watching them go to another team and do it there.

Was listening to Johnny Cash's God's Gonna Cut You Down and remembered that it was Joe Beimel's entry music when he was a Rockie. Sandman is great and all, but holy crap
