Was riding high in my AL Keeper, but the rival just went all in and now there's no one left to acquire. Do I push in the chips for mediocre talent or let the ship sink?
Eno Sarris
1:13
Hold.
1:14
I mean these aren't great situations to spend in. Maybe you can find a minor deal that help. All in doesn't always work and if there's no supply...

Is Cotton just a total whiff or does he still have a chance to regroup in the offseason and become a solid starter?
Eno Sarris
1:15
I see above-average (not elite) whiffs on the four-seam, cutter, and change. Velo good, perceived velo terrible. I'll buy in the deepest of leagues but he really needs to find something and I don't have an easy answer.

Losing weight would be easy if beer wasn't so delicious.

Woodruff?  What thinks Ye?
Eno Sarris
1:16
Yes. Buy. Heavy ass fastball, great slider, great movement on change even if no whiffs last night. Buy Buy buy

For how much longer do you think Posey retains his title as the best hitting catcher in baseball? 1-2 more years until yielding it to Gary?
Eno Sarris
1:17
could lose it next year

I think you meant Markakis slides into the 4-hole so he can keep driving in runs to pad that HOF resume.

What are your thoughts on the Nitro milk stout, and on milk stouts in general?

Just do the Cambridge run that I did last weekend: Lamplighter plus Lord Hobo, with a possible Meadhall stop.

Sounds like Fulmer will start next week... if you're contending this year, do you continue to roll with him down the stretch or try to swap him out for someone without injury concerns?
Eno Sarris
1:18
Keep him.

i've heard nothing but optimistic things about dominic smith, but a baseball writer (mets fan) i trust recently said he's crap and nothing to be excited about. what do i believe?
Eno Sarris

Good d and discipline, will have to change batted ball mix like Josh Bell did to be as good as Josh Bell with bat. Will not be Bell with glove.

how do i see pitch type spilts for a pitcher AS a BATTER
Eno Sarris
1:20
uh... I think you're overthinking things. you can switch to the 'batter' view on pitchers in FG, that's probably as deep as you should go haha. Brooks gives you a 'batter' choice.

Why isn't there a WAR for managers? Are Teams looking into this?
Eno Sarris
1:22
I'm sure they do have some research into this. I tried. It's very difficult. I would assume they are worth a win or two at best.

I was farting around on Fangraphs recently and came across Rafael Belliard's player page.  He played in parts of 17 Major League seasons and accrued -1.2 WAR for his career through 2500 plate appearances (and hit only 2 career home runs!).  His 1993 was particularly fascinating because he appeared in 91 games with only 89 PA's, essentially being used as a late game defensive replacement for a Braves team that fizzled out in the NLCS.  He was never worth less than -1.0 WAR or more than +0.7 WAR in a season.  Given what the modern front office understands about the value of roster spots we may never see another player with a similar career.

Weren't the Cora brothers similar? Yeah I think that job in particular just goes to a prospect / player under team control now.
