Are Randy Arozarena and Junior Fernandez guys who can help StL now? What are these guys long term outlooks?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:51
I think they could each help in some capacity. Arozarena is a high-energy extra OF right now, Junior is throwing really hard and has a great changeup. He'd be fine in the bullpen right now.

Are you worried about Royce Lewis at all? wRC+ under 100 for this year though he had a strong 2018 season.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:51
not really
Jason
12:52
Were the Cardinals just too aggressive with Malcolm Nunez and Jhon Torres? They seem to be doing better in short season ball.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:52
looks that way

Ross Atkins seems to think Derek Fisher can hold his own at any of the outfield positions, including centerfield, do you agree? Isn't his arm s little light for right field?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:52
He's tooled up it's his instincts and feel that are not good

12:54
You buy into the Orioles as a top 10 or so system?
Eric A Longenhagen
those are live, by the way. They update as I update the board.

Do you know any of 18 year olds hitting .372/.420/.555 in the Pioneer league?
Eric A Longenhagen

I like Peguero (clearly, https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-32-prospects-arizona-diamondbacks/) but don't trust PIO stats
go look at what Amalani Fukofuka did there at 19

Eric - are y'all going to add guys recently traded but not on Top Org lists like Dairon Blanco to THE BOARD?  I want to follow guys with 80 speed!  Thx.
Eric A Longenhagen
12:58
we have a 35 on him and those guys just get a sentence at the end of the offseason lists. We've gotta have a cutoff somewhere, sorry

Who says no: Jo Adell and Jose Suarez for Luis Castillo?

Read that Jared Oliva made some adjustments in early June and has been one of the better hitters in AA since. Is he turning himself into a potential regular in CF?
Eric A Longenhagen
12:59
perhaps. has those kind of physical tools and was raw for his age because he didn't play a lot in high school

In episode 1395 of EW, Ben Lindbergh said that teams are taking trackman data of amateur games they held and trading them with players, but such part of trade are not publically reported. Do you have any info or guess if there were deadline trade with such data?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:00
no but that's cool and I'll try to find out

If you're a GM, what other GMs/Organizations make you think extra hard about doing a deal if they want one of your players or they're willing to trade one of theirs because they just seem to be ahead of the game?
Eric A Longenhagen

HOU, NYY

Hi Eric, do you have any information on 2 Angels arms not on the board, Oliver Ortega and Isaac Mattson?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:02
Mattson has a swing and miss fastball even though it's only in the low 90s because it has life and he locates it. Ortega throws harder, up to 96, fringe command, but that's all i've got on him. I think i'll see him Sunday, though.

Is Abraham Toro the next unheralded Astros bat to become a solid major leaguer?  Saw him this spring and he looked for real; the numbers this year continue to back it up.
Eric A Longenhagen
1:03
yeah, evaluations vary pretty wildly there. He has a 70 or 80 arm when he winds up to throw but he doesn't make strong throws from weird platforms, he has power but the swing is loopy and long and not everyone think it'll work. He's interesting. I tend to think he'll be a corner role player but not a regular.

Can Melvin Adon hang in a MLB bullpen right now? Seems like with the Giants shipped out some arms his chance is coming soon.
Eric A Longenhagen
1:04
if his slider feel is there then yes, but that'll come and go depending on his outing.
you'll be wowed at times and really frustrated at others.

You saw Avery Short last week. How did his secondaries look?
Eric A Longenhagen

meh, but it was his first appearance

What is the benefit to holding HS arms out of action after the draft? Do they really have so much wear and tear after the HS season?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:05
it's the HS season plus having thrown all spring/summer before.

I know you guys have bumped Victor Santos from the 35+ in preseason up to 40 now. Is that due to any sort of velo increase, or just a bit more confidence since he continues to have success with what he's got?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:05
the latter, velo is still below avg

Do teams wait until the MLB to implement defensive shifting concepts? Or have we seen it become commonplace in the upper minors too?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:05
it happens at all levels now

Does Will Smith have more footspeed than Bellinger? Smith is listed as a 55 and Belli a 45
