Will you guys ever post anything around ratings/rankings of each MLB teams' ability to develop players? Or does that change too much?
Eric A Longenhagen
3:53
Changes a lot and the individual players vary too much to have a great feel for every team, though I think some teams are clearly at the front and back of the pack

MadBum isn't an ace?
Eric A Longenhagen
3:55
Two years of injuries, can't do it. Kershaw's got one foot out the door at this point based on the same primciple, if that makes you feel better.

Have you heard when/if Chris Rodriguez (Angels) is going to be back to game action?
Eric A Longenhagen
3:56
Think he's toast for the year. Was in the 100-125 overall range on our offseason list, three plus pitches, violent delivery. Has a stress fracture in his back.
Greg

Forget whether Fried is a reliever or starter -- is he even good? Can you clarify his ranking for me? He has gotten crushed at basically every level except when he was really old at Low A.
Eric A Longenhagen
3:58
He's a 50 for me based on him winding up in the bullpen and letting the FB/CRV combo rip for 4-6 outs at a time.

What approach would you take with respect to J2 international free agents?  Blow your entire bonus on the top few guys or spread it out across a larger number of second or third tier guys?  Or maybe do your best to trade for additional slot money?
Eric A Longenhagen
3:59
I'd spread it out, prioritizing guys with frames, athletic grace.

Will Nick Madrigal's contact skills translate to more power?
Eric A Longenhagen
3:59
I believe so

Which of the starters in the Phillies org would make the most impact/sense being moved to the pen? Kilome? Llovera? Romero?
Eric A Longenhagen
4:01
Kilome (FB/CR guy at AA with 40 control) and Mau Llovera (frog-like 5-10 215lb righty up to 87 in HiA) are the guys. Still like Jojo Romero (athletic lefty, velo down early this year, pitching better now, plus change, pitchability) in a rotation
Suarez, too

Anything to suggest that Pablo Lopez is more than a back end starter?
Eric A Longenhagen
4:02
Yes, MIA player dev has roots from NYY player dev...
MIA righty from Seattle in Gordon trade. 90-95, command, 50.55 secondaries

More detail is great, helps me tie the more obscure players to their org.

Where does Lebron sign? (other than the dotted line)
Eric A Longenhagen
4:03
Ugggh. I think the basketball move is Boston and the career move is LA.
4:04
I'll say LA, no disrespect to LeBron's priorities.

How much does steady and consistent performance from low-A to AAA in the light of mediocre scouting reports play into how you view a player? Let's use Joe McCarthy as an example?
Eric A Longenhagen
4:04
It's highly influential.
4:05
Especially when the track record is that long. And especially when an individual skill (McCarthy's peripherals, for example) are that extreme

Hey Eric, I love the context idea. Is Dustin May ceiling changing? His stuff seems to have gotten more effective
Eric A Longenhagen
4:05
Also in the daily notes. Last source I spoke with who saw him had up up to 97, 6 slider, 6 command

July 2 is mid point of the calendar year.

There you go, it's Lebanon, KS.

Okay folks, that's two hours from me and I've gotta get to finishing the July 2 post for tomorrow. See you next week.
