Do you think Glasnow’s control issues can largely be attributed to his frame, which best resembles a wacky flailing inflatable tube man? Are pitchers capable of “growing in” to their control?
Eric A Longenhagen
1:59
I think his lever length does impact his control, or at least allows less room for mechanical error. Yes, I think pitchers like that can grow into their bodies and have better control. Lots of arms have.

Mitch Keller has had an excellent year, and so far, has done well in his brief time in the FSL. Does he have the ceiling of a #1?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:00
No. #1 ceilings are incredibly rare.

Post-trade deadline, where would you rank TEX's farm system? Losing Ortiz, Brinson, Tate, and Cordell is a pretty substantial blow.
Eric A Longenhagen
2:02
Not sure where'd I'd slot them among all 30 clubs off the top of my head, but yeah losing those guys is a substantial blow. They still have a deep well of talent, but only Leodys Taveras has moved into that "potential star" tier that Brinson et. all used to occupy. Lots of lower level arms and infielders, though.
Decisions
2:02
If a team is rebuilding and has a system strong in pitching for example, do you believe it’s better to continue to stockpile pitching or balance it out by acquiring more hitters?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:03
Best Players Available, Regardless of Position.

With how Zimmer, Mejia, and McKenzie ended their seasons, is there any chance Zimmer doesn't end up as the top prospect for the Indians heading into next season? There are a lot of thing NOT to like about Zimmer at this point, no?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:05
McKenzie is basically everything I look for in a pitching prospect so, independent of Zimmer's swing and miss issues, he's very much in consideration for Cleveland's top spot as I begin to put lists together.

Is Willy Adames' ceiling .280 25HR at his peak? What's likely?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:05
I think that's possible. Likely is probably a few dingers short of that, still really good.

Random scouting question: How much video or advanced data does the average team have on other team's prospects? i.e. -- out of the clear blue, team A offers team B a middling prospect in the middle of their system; how much and what kind of data does team B have go on above and beyond what is public? What percentage of minor-league games are taped and how available is that tape?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:07
A ton, Harambe, a ton. Every game is filmed from multiple angles, some fed live into the club's front office. I think teams share data like spin rates and exit velos, too. Lots of teams have Trackman or the like at their minor league affiliates, including in complex-level ball. They have magnitudes more info on their prospects than you or I.
Promotions
2:07
Do you lean towards promoting players liberally or conservatively?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:08
Case by case basis for me, depending on the player.

Hi Eric, Alex Verdugo didn't have the same good season in AA than Cody Bellinger, but can we say he's a better prospect? If not, why you disagree?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:09
I think Verdugo is a superior prospect. Better athlete, better arm, more baseline-friendly defensive projection...Lots to like with Verdugo.
Pitching Interest
2:10
Does Jason Groome fall under the category of potential #1 starter?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:11
Certainly more than 99% of minor league arms. Velo, curveball, body, delivery. All the unteachable ingredients are there for the foundation of a top-of-the rotation arm.

Will Brewers helium prospects like Erceg, Woodruff or Isan Diaz make it onto some top 100s this winter? Similarly will guys like Maverick Phillips or Trent Clark who largely underwhelmed fall off?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:12
Diaz is a firm "yes", Erceg and Woodruff might get one their. Phillips I've never been that high on while I'm inclined to be patient with Clark despite his struggles.

what's the low down on the Astros Brady Rogers? BA named him AAA pitcher of the year, so I'm curious about the scouting report. thanks
Eric A Longenhagen
2:14
Deep repertoire, nothing really plus unless you like either the command or the slider a bit more than I do. #4/5 type for me but a useful big league arm.
i Viva Cuba !
2:14
Have you talked to scouts about bat flips / flashy baseball in general? How do they feel about it?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:15
Not really. Writers far more concerned with that sort of thing.

2:15
Has Francis Martes made any progress on a changeup?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:15
Some, yes. Slider location has been the big thing for him this year, though.
Prospector
2:15
David Dahl or Austin Meadows? (And does Pittsburgh create space for Meadows by trading 'Cutch this off-season?)
Eric A Longenhagen
2:16
Meadows, no idea what they're going to do on the trade front.

Is Stewart the #1 Tigers prospect for you?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:17
Three horse race between him, Burrows and Manning.
ryan
2:17
can you point to a particular area of strength in the 2017 draft?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:17
College arms.

The O's top pics (Sedlock, Akin, Dietz, Hays) all looked good in NYPL. Will they play well at higher levels?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:19
Sedlock's issues with strike throwing are kind of off-putting. I like all four of those guys, though. Hays especially is someone I think could out perform his draft position. Akin's stuff was down later in the year, might have been overworked. Hope his offseason is restful and it bounces back next spring.
Hudson Potts
2:19
Has my performance changed your opinion of me? How did I look in AZL?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:20
I've always liked you and, contrary to the facetious opinion of one of your AZL teammates, your hands did not get worse when you changed your last named from Sanchez to Potts. You looked really good and were driving the ball to the opposite field gap far more than I saw you do in high school, which was nice.

To do Spanish HW or to do prospect HW?
Eric A Longenhagen
2:21
I'm doing both today, at the same time.
