That's a lot to ask in 120 games. Under.
Alex Eisert
3:49
Agreed. Only 35 in 150 games last year
AvatarDan Szymborski
3:48
I don't know if that's been tested, but I think it wouldn't be a good idea
Greg
3:48
Was that about how the Molinas would pop up to throw out baserunners or about them all being frosted on one side?
AvatarDan Szymborski

Jose and Bengie had to have had the two largest sets of buttocks in baseball at the time

It took six innings for boos at Fenway

Cody Bellinger’s swing still fools me into thinking every flyball is going 450 feet

ZiPS disagrees - has Cubs playoffs at 23%, Red Sox 19%
Alex Eisert

That tracks for me.

Is MLB's platonic ideal Catcher rostered for his arm and bat (and not framing)? Is this not at odds with our current reality?
Alex Eisert
3:53
Yes — I think MLB is upset that guys like Gary Sanchez have fallen by the wayside and it's okay to start Roberto Perez on Opening Day. The arm is becoming more important again w bigger bases but that ideal catcher won't truly regain value until the ABS robots come.

The O's could have signed Judge and deGrom and *still* have a payroll significantly lower than average
YorDaddy
3:54
This is probably the weakest Astros line-up on opening day in years huh?

as a cardinals fan i've had the mystery of variance taken away from my baseball experience

That moment when you realize local blackout restrictions will block you from ever watching Jacob DeGrom pitch :(

If you told me a Yankees game was going to be done in 2:45, I'd have assumed it was called in the 6th by rain
Davy Andrews
3:55
You know it's opening day because I somehow still have hope that the Nats could come back in the ninth.

Serves me right.

Could Patrick Mahomes one day try to play baseball in addition to football?  He was pretty good, he'd follow his father's footsteps, and it's been too long since the days of Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders.
Davy Andrews
3:56
I mean, he hasn't played in a long time. But I'd obviously love to see it.
AvatarDan Szymborski
3:56
I doubt he'd have the proper motivation to try
