Roman Anthony is on pace to lead in times LoB

On that note, I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave you all. I have to go pick up my car from the shop.

If 114.4 MPH isn't squared up, that implies that his max EV would be like 143 MPH. Insane

Right, I think it was just tagged wrong in Savant, but it was what showed up when I searched.

I had thought Brewers 14-1 was a crazy opposite of their last-year opener with the Yanks' torpedo bats. Unfortunately the real torpedo games were second and third last year, not the opener. Would have been funny for a team to have a +24 run swing between consecutive Opening Day games.

What's baseball?

Wow, did not think Davy had the upper body strength to pick up a car.

In regards to Bat speed vs ball speed. The best rule I can find is that the smash factor is something like 1.4/1 maybe 1.45  on a perfectly square hit in optimal conditions with a very hard baseball. So a bat speed of 85 should produce max exit velo of 123.25. Which tracks with Oneil Cruz. Super rough approximation and I am not Alan Nathan.

Ben did you kayak in the cove last night? the broadcast showed almost as many as late-career Barry games
Ben Clemens
4:56
I've never done it! I want to at least once. Looks like a good time.

Safe to say Pivetta doesn't have it today, but also that kid is really really good

The most impressed I've been with McGonigle so far was when they zoomed in on his forearms

If you'd like to know how things are going in Milwaukee, the Brewers announcers are showing their shoes on the air.

Kurt Suzuki just issued an IBB in the third inning
Guest
5:06
So Suzuki is manager of the year? I mean, you can't script things like 3rd inning IBB.
Neat
5:06
It's nice to see that no matter the manager, the Angels will do silly IBB. Clearly an organizational philosophy.

5:07
As the Astros broadcasting is noting, Soriano has been significantly better against LHH in his career, too
Ben Clemens
5:08
I don't hate this IBB that much, honestly. Like, it's probably not great. But I don't buy Soriano's splits for a second. He's a sinker-dominant righty
5:09
and first base was open
bad? maybe. nowhere near peak TLR though
or peak Maddon, or peak RW, or anything
AvatarJon Becker
5:09
Right, it was a 0-0 count at least
Ben Clemens
5:09
haha yeah, and it didn't advance any runners
the bar for 'super bad IBB' is high considering some of the travesties we've seen
