I think this is McCullers' last batter. That seem fair?
Ben Clemens
4:16
Yeah, I agree with that
With a rested bullpen after the off day yday
I would be tempted to give him another inning but I don't think Dusty will
Kevin Goldstein
4:17
I would do it.

Random story: a high school teammate of mine caught at Miami in college, but moved to 1B/DH primarily when Yasmani Grandal showed up. He was later drafted by the Padres (as a catcher), had a relatively successful minor league career (multiple stints at AAA with some success as 1B/C combo), but at the time the Padres catcher was...Yasmani Grandal. I'm sure there's a lot more to the story, but I always found it interesting.

Say hi to Jason Hagerty for me.
Ben Clemens

Okay, gonna make some lunch really quickly

Kevin, I’m not sure the years you were there exactly, but did you think McCullers or Velazquez had better stuff? On a similar note, regardless of your answer, what aspects of pitching do you think allow pitchers with lesser stuff to be more successful pitchers (for both of you)?
Kevin Goldstein
4:17
Lance had better stuff, but I did also think VV would have a better career.....

I remember when baseball tried to jam Pierzynski and Eric Byrnes as the next "it" baseball color commentators. I'm glad Pierzynski stuck and Byrnes didn't. I dislike AJ, but he's really good at offering insight. Byrnes was just a Dudebro, and I'm glad I don't have to hear from him.
Kevin Goldstein
4:19
What the hell happened to Byrnes? He seemed to have just vanished. Did he do something bad I forget about?

I say McCullers comes out for Anderson and stays in until more batters have reached base than he has outs.
Kevin Goldstein
4:19
I think this is a good bet.

I'd like to see at least one hit to see the chirping against Tepera.
Ben Clemens

Popping back in briefly while the stove heats up to agree with this
Kevin Goldstein

I'd like the drama. If you're a Houston fan and what he said upset you, I kind of just shrug. I don't THINK Houston is up to anything right now, but they're earned the skepticism and ire and just have to deal with it.

Played against them in Lancaster. Could’ve just been their stuff on those days or at those stages of their careers, but I thought VV had better stuff. Could’ve just been me. Then again, Austin Wood (pitched in the Angels organization) also seemed to have some of the best stuff I ever faced. The fastball at least. If you remember him
Kevin Goldstein
4:24
Austin Wood had a crazy great FB! Also, who are you?
Andrew

When AJ of all people thinks you ran your mouth, you DEFINITELY ran your mouth

Why go Yimi here instead of Urquidy...
Kevin Goldstein
4:26
Fair question. I wonder what the decision would be if it was 5-3....
4:27
Adam Wainwright recommending the polish dog in Chicago. Clearly has never has the Italian Sausage with the grilled onion from the guy in the concourse right behind home plate
4:28
Lance McCullers is out of the game after four innings....

I don't like that at all (37.5% | 24 votes)

I don't like it, but I get it (45.3% | 29 votes)

Feels right (14.1% | 9 votes)

Oh shit, Kevin - ballpark food recommendations in Houston! Last time I did shake shack because I couldn't get it elsewhere, but it exists outside the ballpark in Houston now.
Kevin Goldstein

Torchy's Tacos behind CF on the upper level.
Ben Clemens
4:29
Is Torchy's just everywhere in Texas now?
It deserves to be, to be clera
Kevin Goldstein
4:30
It's around....
Andrew
4:30
They have it in Amarillo, sooo... yes.
Ben Clemens
4:30
lol
Kevin Goldstein

There's a pretty dive-y Mexican diner kinda place near the ballpark, but the wrong way from downtown. Bit of sketchy area, but whatever, that stuff never bothers me and the food is really good.
Ben Clemens

Sorry to my in-laws, but the stadium that most disappoints me food-wise is Miller Park

Torchys is no longer in MMP, but we do have a Killens BBQ now. For Houston beer go St Arnold’s

See, you don't go for a couple of years....
