When you find yourself falling behind in both, the answer is usually desperation plays and hoping for breakouts. It's NOT a good spot to find oneself.

Adolis Garcia. Jared Walsh. Dylan Carlson. Who's future is the brightest?
Brad Johnson
12:51
Easily Dylan Carlson.
12:52
Garcia is an Adam Duvall clone. It's not a valuable profile in the eyes of MLB personnel.
So playing time is always going to be a fight
Walsh is deceptively old. He's a late-bloomer and those often don't have staying power.
12:53
I very much like Walsh, but Carlson is nearly a decade younger and already shows several above average traits.

Byron Buxton shows MVP flashes when healthy, but gets injured every season. Where are you looking to take him? Is he worth the risk?
Brad Johnson
12:54
The skills have come together enough for me to target him around pick 60 and trust myself to find replacements as needed.
The shallower the league, the earlier I take him.

How should we value Alex Reyes this year?
Brad Johnson
12:56
Reyes is tough. I've been low-man on him for awhile and was telling everyone to sell high from like April on last season. Actually caught a lot of flak so I'm kind of glad he fell apart just for personal validation. Usually I hope I'm wrong or the player improves.
In the case of Reyes, his command DID improve, and that was the problem
12:57
First two-thirds of the season, he was effectively wild and got away with the walks. Once he started walking fewer guys, hitters laid into him instead.
Seems like the plan is to put him in the annual SP competition
I don't foresee him closing. I'd be hands off entirely until we have more role clarity.

Do you know of any fantasy gurus that rate players with out steals?...we started our league back in 1981 and there are now 13 teams and non of us want steals to count.....way too boring a stat (imo). So all the ratings skew the hitting stats.

I can't think of anyone offhand, but there are some publicly available tools you can use.

I'll show my FanGraphs roots again: their auction calculator is a useful starting point for getting ideas about how different categories affect value. https://www.fangraphs.com/auctiontool.aspx
1:01
I wouldn't take those values as accurate per se, but you can easily see that a 25 SB total is worth about $6-10 depending on your format. So you can then make those adjustments to any analysis that's counting SB.

Will Bryson Stott get 400 at bats this year? Chances he qualifies at 2B next year?
Brad Johnson
1:02
I'm interested to see Stott, especially after a sharp-looking AFL.
I think the Phillies would prefer for a big name SS to fall in their lap with Stott serving as insurance.
1:03
They're on Plan G if he gets 400 PA. Wouldn't rule it out though, they're already on Plan D or E.

Do you play any other fantasy sports
Brad Johnson
1:03
I do not, I'm a baseball-only guy. Dunno how y'all make time for other sports!

Thoughts on Michael Harris? Next awesome player or overhyped prospect?
Brad Johnson
1:04
I have mixed reports on him. fwiw I like him more than Drew Waters who I never really got as a big hype guy.
1:05
Not sure Harris is the next big guy OR overhyped tbh
Kirt
1:05
Would you rather have the next 8 years with Mike Trout or Wander Franco?
Brad Johnson
1:05
Gotta take Wander today. Trout's starting to pile up too many aches and pains.

Which Ranger prospect would you draft higher, Josh Jung or Jack Leiter?
Brad Johnson
1:06
Much more interested in Jung, though the Rangers offseason has soured me on his 2022 opportunities.  Too injury dependent now.

Are we going to see Perdomo and Thomas in the lineup regularly before the season ends?
Brad Johnson
1:06
Almost certainly. Barring injury to one or both of course.
1:08
For me, the only question is if it happens in (whatever passes for) April, May, or July. I don't see any sense sending Thomas back to Triple-A, and the new CBA *might* offer inducements to not mess with his service time.

1:08
What role do you see Brujan having with the Rays?
Brad Johnson
1:08
I think they want him to be that patch-and-play guy in the classic Zobrist or recent Chris Taylor mold.
1:09
The caveat is that not everybody hits well when they don't have a steady role. It might behoove the Rays to find a single position for him to settle in.
1:11
This is obviously a big question for us fantasy folk since he's a legit 15-HR, 40-SB threat. The lack of set role has his current ADP in the mid-300s. He'd be a top 50 candidate if we could count on a full workload.
