Honestly, I'm not sure it matters. I perceive Dalbec as lowest floor (i.e. struggles then loses job to Casas) and highest ceiling (smacks 35-40 dingers). Vaughn has the highest floor imo. And I know my view on these three doesn't map to the industry average.

Why doesn't the league just go to 28 man rosters full time ?
Brad Johnson
1:18
That's ~$1.4MM more per team in salaries!
1:19
I think they will eventually unless they decide to fight back against the shorter-and-shorter start lengths.
Jonathan Villar

How long am I waiting to get everyday AB's, or is my role exactly what has happened so far a giant rotation and ceiling of 350 AB's.
Brad Johnson
1:20
I think the Cubs do see him as a 450 PA guy and those will happen once things start to crack
They have some OF depth but they're paper-thin on the infield.

Should I be worried about Snell? And, what are your thoughts on Luis Patino?
Brad Johnson
1:20
Yes, in that he'll almost certainly go on the IL
I don't think it's a long stint.
1:21
Patino's a 3-4 inning guy imo. I don't think he can get to those 5th and 6th innings with consistency.
1:22
He's quite good on a per inning basis, but Ws and QS are going to be tough for him.
If they open with Jalen Beeks ahead of him, then he could pile up Ws.
By the way, Jalen Beeks is back folks.
1:23
Alrighty, time to start wrapping up. It's nice to talk about baseball when everything's in motion, huh?

Open bench spot. You prefer J.Lowe, Kwan, Baddoo, or Candelario?
Brad Johnson
1:23
Love all 3 OF. I'd take Baddoo, but you're not going wrong with any of them.

Villar, Stort, or J.Peña as a backup SS?
Brad Johnson
1:24
Pena
then Stott, last is Villar

Gilbert for montas? Gilbert velo up on off speed pitches
Brad Johnson
1:25
I wouldn't trade Montas for Gilbert. There should be more value out there elsewhere. Interestingly, I wouldn't trade Gilbert for Montas either.
That comes down to working the asset.
1:26
If I think turkey sandwiches are overrated but bought one for market price anyway, then I shouldn't immediately sell it at a 20% discount.
That said, I do kind of like Gilbert more than Montas. Now I'm confused!

Maybe I’m looking too much into this but I got offered Matt Chapman for Tommy Edman. Thoughts?
Brad Johnson
1:27
Prefer Chapman personally. Caveat is their skill sets are completely different. What stats do you need?
1:28
btw, I should have said this at the start. When I ask a question in these public chats, it's rhetorical. I've gotten to maybe 10% of the questions at best. I probably won't see your response.

Does David Robertson emerge as the main closer in Chicago?
Brad Johnson
1:28
Seems to be going that way.

Traded Jonathan India and Stephen Strasburg for Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Jon Gray. Who wins?
Brad Johnson
1:29
Could go either way! India is the safest player in that deal. The other 3 could be exactly nothing. Or worse. Or Jazz could blow them all away. Jazz has such a wide range of outcomes. From 30/30 down to a Triple-A tune-up.

2B Diego Castilla or Cano? Keeper but going for it. Thanks!
Brad Johnson
1:30
I... really want to say Castillo.

Is William Conteras the Braves future catcher?
Brad Johnson
1:30
I think so. Really impressive EVs. Might not be super consistent with it.

1:30
Does Roansy Contreras work his way into the Pirates rotation and what are realistic expectations for him?
Brad Johnson
1:31
He sure should, he's already their best SP by a wide margin.
With the speed he sprinted through the minors, I have trouble forming a projection besides "exciting"
1:33
He could be Alek Manoah or Nate Pearson or Spencer Howard or Joe Musgrove or...
