You buying Bruce Zimmermann? Or do the Orioles pitchers come back down to earth
Brad Johnson
12:23
No, I'm not buying.
I don't think he can maintain the SwStr% (12.9%) or continue to induce this much soft contact.
12:24
I'd be willing to try him on another team, but the Orioles don't offer run support, bullpen support, and they have one of the toughest schedules in the sport.
Rod MacKay
12:24
Luzardo, I can figure him out. Which one is he, the good or the ugly?
Brad Johnson
12:26
He's good! Possibly a Top 20 SP. We've seen in these first three starts that there are some characteristics still a tad askew. Namely, his command is inconsistent.
High risk, high reward type

Any thoughts on a flyer on Charlie Blackmon? Seems to have re-found his form early in 2022, and Rox hitters have worked for me in the past.
Brad Johnson
12:27
If he's available cheaply, absolutely. One of my favorite draft day bargains. He's such a reliable compiler even if he's borderline terrible for 81 starts a year.

12:27
Hi Brad. Sorry for not sending a complete message. When do you think Bobby Witt Jr. will warm up and do you think Jorge Mateo will finally fulfill his potential this year?
Brad Johnson
12:27
I'm sooooo out on Jorge Mateo
He's bad irl and he's bad in 4 of 5 fantasy categories.
12:29
The comp that keeps going around for those running their Mateo victory laps is Adalberto Mondesi. What you really need to compare him to is a normal replacement level guy in your league. If that's Canha-ish (typical 12-team mixed), then Mateo isn't playable even if he steals 80 bags. If it's closer to like a Chad Pinder, then sure, Mateo has his uses.
At least until the O's cut him. Which is a matter of when, not if.
12:30
I don't have any special insight into Witt besides that he's way outside of his usual plate discipline profile. Needs to take a step back, breath deep, and get going.
12:31
A quick sojourn to Triple-A would make sense if this four-game hitting streak doesn't breed more success.

Does Bohm keep his job, even when Didi returns? Can he be a viable third baseman? If I squint hard enough, am I looking at a RH Yelich?
Brad Johnson
12:31
You're looking at exact body clone DJ LeMahieu.
12:33
I do not have a good read on the Phillies right now in part because I'm hearing the front office and Joe Girardi are pushing in opposite directions. We should probably see Stott optioned when Didi returns. And Camargo *should* shift to a more active bench role, though it might be more of a 5-man rotation through four spots.
Remember, expanded rosters end on Sunday

12:33
Can long relievers like Michael King, Wil Crowe, and Jorge Lopez keep up their strong starts?
Brad Johnson
12:34
I think so, to an extent. I have to writeup Lopez at length on Wednesday because I've been too conservative with him.
12:35
Crowe is a good middle reliever type. The kind you can use in leverage situations if you have to. That whole Yankees pen is stocked with underhyped monsters. King's just one of a dozen.
DJ ??
12:35
Is DJ LeMahieu a reliable second baseman in fantasy going forward? Are we going to see decent numbers?
Brad Johnson
12:36
Still an annual contender for the batting crown. In the sense that playing time won't be 100% before they suffer a couple injuries, he's not quite ideal for shallow formats.

Over/Under 30 bombs for Joc assuming health?
Brad Johnson
12:36
Lemme fire up my HR calculator
12:38
Nice line!
My calc says 29.3 HR per 500 PA. Figure he sits out that many PA for LHP.

Mullins is smoking balls but his ks are way up. Should I be nervous?
Brad Johnson
12:40
So, first off, I wouldn't call 23.9% K% over 71 PA "way up" from 18.5% in 675 PA last season. He has 17 Ks and would have had 13 Ks at last season's pace.
12:41
I can't find much cause for concern beside a 11.8% SwStr% (which correlates with the extra Ks we've seen). At worst, he keeps striking out in the 24% range which is perfectly palatable with the rest of his profile.
12:42
He's a buy imo.
Brad
12:42
Munoz, Sims, Barnes, Floro and Devin Williams.    which two would you roster?
Brad Johnson
12:43
If you're optimizing for saves, I'd lean towards getting Floro. I'd take Munoz no matter what.
I'm a Munoz stan.
Offer me Munoz or peak Mariano Rivera and I might just pick Munoz.

Shane M. is not a top 10 pitcher yet. I have a hard time imaging him as even top 15/20..
Brad Johnson
12:43
Ok, fine, I'll take the minute to do the exercise
12:45
Ok, generic projections, which I think are massively pessimistic now, have him as SP 20.
